Forum upgrade wish list

Hi folks

We've now installed the 'Your threads' option in Profile, so if you click on a username to view a profile, or click on your own username, you'll see a list of the last 10 threads the user has participated in.

Note that if you click on the Profile tab at the top of the page when logged in, that will put you into 'Edit' mode and the list won't show. In that case, the 'View Your Posts' link on the homepage is the place to go.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but my signature doesn't seem to show up on all my posts. When I first post it is be there and then it disappears?!
Any ideas?

There's lots of posts on here so apologies if my suggestion has already been made

I'd like a chat room - there are so many great people on here, it would be lovely to talk in real time. I think there's a real sense of community and I think a chat room could only enhance this. Moderated closely - chatrooms attract some very strange people.

Also it would be nice to be able to alter the colour - I'd like to have my screen pink! Is there any way you could make it so you can choose your colour scheme? That would be fun.

Thanks for your suggestions Joobles. Although the suggestion of a chat room has been made quite a few times, it isn't something we're going to do here I'm afraid, for several reasons, including the moderation problem.

Regarding the pink, a bit of customisation would be great, but we're currently running on an oldish version of the forum software which doesn't allow such things. I'm sure we'll upgrade at some point, but it won't be for a while as it will be a nightmare

make a general board that instead of having to pick each topic has the most recent topics posted in any category and from that updated live board have a drop down option to join the other specific categories.
also have forums but then have information boards- some of the posts on the forums are tips to help things and should be in an information category and not in the forums so people can easily distinguish and acess them. having private messaging capabilties would also be nice which would also go well along with individual profiles- being able to customize yourself with a little icon under your "author" name might be cool. This would also allowed the site to update you on the site itself anytime your posts have been responded to which is a major benefit if you are posting on several different topics.

like previously stated, a chat room would be nice. Also, dont know if ive missed this, but a rant forum would sure be nice right now

That made me laugh out loud!!! That's funny... I can just imagine it... you'd get some gems in there!!

I have a simple suggestion... why dont you change the icon for new posts, old posts, popular posts etc... they just look very much similar to me..

A working Advanced Search function

The current search function seems to be hit-or-miss as far as key words and totally ignores a specific forum to search- returns hits from all forums when a specific forum is specified.

Can imagine such a search engine... everyone is..subject to everyone... on this site?
