Intrusive thoughts and anger

It is not possible for a truly positive thinker to have intrusive thoughts, as they simply would not attach a negative label to any thought that came up. Even a neutral thinker could not have an intrusive thought.

I diagree with this Julius.
Negative thoughts are said to rise up from your subconscious to hassle you. IMO this rubbish. There is no evidence, it is just a say so.

The two important things to understand are:-
1. Some thoughts are only perceptions and not our selections.
2. Thoughts are not in business for themselves.

Intrusive thoughts are suggestions made, often under concealed threats, by a closely related party. It is most often done for one of three reasons.
Either to gain power and influence so as to manipulate and control the other party, or to punish, hurt the other party or lastly to gain narcissistic supply, i.e., to get pleasure from the other person's suffering.

Recognizing that intrusive thoughts are suggestions that one perceives mentally, one can simply discharge them. I would agree with your positive thinking in this case one one count and that is that one can best discharge them by replacing them with something positive.

Rather it was a small or major problem in my life, the thoughts would just keep repeating in my head all day and I just over analyze and blow up the situation . I just get these random flashes of anger and rage from these thoughts that would last from a few minutes to an hour. I could sit in through an entire lecture in college and miss everything the professor is saying. Most of these memories end with me revisiting the scene in my head and imagining if I had just hurt or sometimes just killed the person responsible. From what I've researched I know some of this may be connected to my anxiety problems I've had. Do I have some mental problem, f***ed up in the head, or is their a way to deal with this?

I doubt that you have a mental problem. You got someone toxic messing with your head. And from what you say, it is someone that has known you a long time or someone who knows what you have been through.

To help deal with it read my reply to this post viewtopic.php?t=95716

I know I should have replied over a month ago, but all of the comments and suggestions have really been helping me out. Instead of these intrusive thoughts occurring after every few to ten minutes, they've gone down to only a few times a day. I'm no longer blinded by rage and anger for hours at a time. When these thoughts occur, I'm still able to concentrate on whatever I'm doing and they just eventually fade away. The thoughts are also aren't nearly as violent as they once were either. Thanks for the help.
