Marijuana Withdrawal

Postby geastman1 » Fri Jan 29, 2021 3:34 pm

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to join because of my symptoms I have been having. I quit Marihuana just over a month ago, about 5 weeks, I have smoked marihuana and hash oil heavily for about 12 years. At first my appetite was depleted, extremely high anxiety, hand tremors, depression, lucid dreaming, difficulty sleeping, blurred vision, and a ton of muscle twitching, you name it I had it. The diminished apatite, blurred vision, depression have significantly reduced, however for the past couple weeks, I have been having a ton of hypnic jerking, just as I am relaxing closing my eyes, my body has a spasm, weather it be in my leg, back, jaw clenching, shoulders, fingers moving involuntarily, sometimes several times in just a few minutes, as well as very intense lucid dreaming none stop. When i Wake up, I am still slightly twitchy, not as bad but notice my fingers twitching a bit, my legs, ect. Can anyone relate? I am also taking a healthy dose of magnesium, krill oil, garlic extract, and a ton of super foods to get through this as quickly as possible. Thanks for any input in advance.

Yes this happens to me everytime I try to quit weed. That's why I couldn't quit because everytime I stop I have a very bad experience. Just stopped 2 days ago and now I suddenly felt dizzy like the world turned upside down. Which triggered my anxiety because for me getting dizzy is the number 1 trigger of my anxiety. I also experience digestive issues when I stop smoking. I always wondered if smoking weed is better for my body since whenever I stop I experience hell. Sorry for not being a help to your post. I also just want answers on what to do, it's killing me.

Well, I’m at 7 months quit now. I had muscle twitches and jerking my self awake when I doze off, and cramps, and tingling sensations in my arms. I also experience some anxiety, not as much now. Just mainly heart palpitations and thumping, mainly at rest or laying in bed. I went through dizziness at the begging also. Some days I don’t much notice the heart issues, other days like today, I notice it more. On and off stomach pains and terrible sleeping. I have melatonin and ambien which I try not to take so I can get back to normal. As far as magnesium supplements I would advise to get a blood test done to see if you’re actually low. Too much magnesium can do as much harm, if not more than too little. I have good days and bad days. It takes awhile to get over this junk from what I’ve read here on these posts. It’s hell, to go through, but it’s still better than an addiction controlling you. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Others here have overcome. I plan to do the same. I’m not going back to weed even if it kills me. If my heart would settle down, I could handle it a lot better. I have had several ecg’s, a stress test, and wore a monitor for 12 days. Others here have said only time will heal us.

I'm wondering if continuing my marijuana use would be more beneficial. When I'm using I don't experience these hellish experiences. I'm just confused onnwhat to do, to continue smoking weed or not...

@ HisokaMorow ; that’s something only you can answer. Is it controlling you. Is your health suffering now, or will it be in the future because what you’re doing to your body now? I’m nobody important, I don’t know much, but I’m 60 years old now and I do know our choices in life in early years have major impacts on our lives later in life. For me, it was controlling me. I changed as far as my personality and so I really was because I let it control me. Don’t let weed still your life.

Don’t let weed steal your life..... “steal” not still. I changed as far as my personality and so I really wanted to quit because I was letting it control me. Sorry about that, I really should proofread these before I submit them.

Sorry to hear you're going through such a rough patch but as far as my experience goes you're on the right track. I had most of your symptoms with varying degrees for a year. I found nothing to alleviate the misery effectively. Stay strong, you can ride it out!

Thank you, I will stay on track, the damn limb spasms at night are by far the worst part, but I'm sure I damaged my central nervous system from all the abuse over time! I appreciate the feedback!

I feel you man. It is difficult to fight the growing conviction that you have ruined your brain for good especially when you consider the intensity, the uncommon nature, and the lengthy duration of your symptoms but rest assured you'll leave all these behind. When I was feeling desperate I was also sceptical and doubted I'd ever recover...dark times these were.

I’m 34 days off it today . I’m a high functioning professional , a former Ironman triathlete and competitive power lifter .
Last time I went clear was 2009 so I know what to expect . I’m 46 now , and my main issues are A my kids are growing up abs I don’t want them seeing dad as a stoner , and B , my wife is not as juvenile as I am .

I’m lucky I have my training .
Usual broken sleep , mad dreams and all that jazz , but for me after I cross 4 weeks I know I’m through the looking glass .

I also am delighted to recapture the 3 h a night stoned on the couch and turn it into more productive time .

I will use this forum as a support I’m thinking .
Regards and good luck to anyone quitting .

Hey Fabulous Furnace, good to read your post. We’re right together. I’m at day 214. Had a bad day today. Sleeping still sucks. Have some ambien, but don’t really want to use it and get hooked. Palpitations still plaguing me. If it wasn’t for them l could deal pretty well with the rest. Start month 7 tomorrow. Was hoping all this would be done by now. Like you said good days and bad days...and when they’re bad, they’re bad for me. Keep us updated.

Hi Fabulous.
I’m 30 years a toker. For the last 20 years , have been doing 1.5 grams a day .

I never waked and baked , as I work a good job .
I always kept it for 2 joints on the couch at night ,
Watching discovery or hitlers lost sub or something like that on the history channel .

Can I ask you how you structured your habit smoking wise ?

Symptoms of marijuana withdrawal can include:

    irritability
    difficulty sleeping
    decreased appetite
    restlessness
    cravings for marijuana
    nausea
    abdominal pain

Marijuana Withdrawal Syndromes A withdrawal syndrome is defined as the onset of specific negative symptoms, which can be physical, emotional, and even behavioral, that occur after one stops using a drug. Symptoms gradually lessen over time, or the withdrawal syndrome can also be relatively quickly reversed by engaging in use of the drug.
