Withdrawal not stated yet

Postby mystspirit » Thu Jan 27, 2022 12:05 pm

I have using weed heavily for last 20 yrs on & off.. off on avg 1/2 month in a year.

When ever i have quit in the past i get hit with several withdrawal symptoms - mostly insomnia, night sweat, irritability, mood swings etc.
This time again quitting after few years of heavy usage (daily 5+ more times) none of the symptoms have started. Its the 4th day ongoing. Only difference this time is that I am at a calmer place in life.
I am bit concerned what is going on & when will i start having tough time ahead. btw, i am 38 yr male, not sure if it matters. please guide.

@mystspirit
In my case it took a whole month - exactly a month - before hell kicked in. For 30 days nothing happened then smash! The following night crazy symptoms appeared in the dead of the night...they wrecked me immediately. The same night I ended up in an ambulance. Let's hope you won't get to PAWS!
Anyway, it seems normal that not much happens for a while.

Hope you are doing well.
I know withdrawal will hit me in the coming days. I got a taste of it last night.

Even if I am getting sleep, I am not used to handling the vivid dreams. felt like I am into deep thought & woke up in the middle of night with headache, took meds and slept and in the morning wake up with headache.

for such a long-term user like me PAWS are bound to happen. Hoping for the best.

Thanks, I'm good. This all happened more than 2 years ago and PAWS is no longer an issue in my life.
In all honesty I was secretly hoping for less struggle but what really counts is the outcome :-)
Good luck with your quit mate!

update after 6 days:

Noticing 2 bad symptoms & 2 good ones.

Bad:
1. Night sweats started 2 days back, not as bad as it used to be in earlier attempts over the yrs.
2. Afternoon mental crash. Mind is processing too much info in a sober state and it crashes by afternoon requiring a nap. strange nap is semi-sleep state with vivid dreams, have to push myself to wake up & go out to refresh.

Good:
1. Not craving for bad/instant gratification food. Eating & feeling healthy.
2. Fapping was compulsion with weed. now naturally on nofap, also wanted to do that consciously. I feel my mind need to recover after long weed abuse, so semen retention energy might speed it up. Also giving me motivation to do this taking mind away from measuring weed withdrawals. 4th day on that.

Good luck everyone!

10th day ongoing update:

Two issues I am facing but am sure will find a way out of it in few days:

1. Vivid dreams while sleep, sometimes afternoon crash.
2. With weed i was able to switch to anytime relaxation. Need to rewire that expectations & find some replacement.

I feel focusing on nofap & no-smoking has taken my mind off weed withdrawals, no urges. Thankfully all three is ongoing right now. Urge to smoke is highest as it was part of the coffee session.

Waiting for the day when i can quit coffee, then smoking urges will go away. even if I love coffee but anything that forcefully stimulates & demands dependency should not be part of my life.

Weed clean - 9 days, NoCigg & NoFap(hard)- 5 days.

Hi, it's one thing offering support and advice and another reading a diary. The forum, to my knowledge isn't really geared for recovery posting, hence it's not that active.
Good luck on Reddit
