Any good self-help books for confidence, etc?

Postby fahmyn » Sat May 28, 2016 9:50 am

Hi everyone!
I was wondering if you've read any good self-help books you'd like to recommend?
The last one I read was NOW by Sultan Ahmed and it's really helped me gain confidence and go of the things I want in life! I would definitely recommend it.
I'm always looking for new gems tho, so please do recommend any of your favourites!

Are you interested in these books out of a sort of scholarly interest or is it because you feel you have issues that they might help you with? You mentioned confidence but that could apply to just about anyone in one way or another.

Without meaning to sound cynical you could read dozens of self help books and still be left with some underlying issue. Each book strikes different chords with different readers. Your inner self is the book that you really need to read and understand.

For what it's worth one of my personal favourites is the old classic "Power Of The Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy.

More philosophical of nature, but really helpful - Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.
Can really put things in to perspective.

There are a good couple of books I know about:

Self-Esteem by Matthew McKay and Patrick Fanning and the related workbook The Self Esteem Workbook by by Glenn R. Schiraldi.

Also, I would greatly recommend two books by Brene Brown: Daring Greatly and Rising Strong. But just about anything by Brene is worth a read.

Hope that helps.

I am currently reading 48 laws of power by Robert Greene.
This book has given me a lot more confidence in dealing with strangers , difficult People & difficult situations.

I don't know what your issues are exactly but my low self-esteem was due to child abuse.. and a book that changed my life is "The Drama of Being a Child" by Alice Miller

I think that's The Drama of the Gifted Child -- but anything by Alice Miller is good.
