2 weeks clean of weed

Hi everyone. Thought I'd check in.
I'm 9 month weed-free!
And 4 months tobacco-free.

Sleep is as good as it's going to be...patchy and nowhere near as satisfying as it was with weed, but my son has my full attention now and that makes me happy.

Ok. TMI time.
Sex has returned to what it should be. This happened around 4 months after giving up the green. In fact, I'm horny all the time now, which is great! And I realise that although weed seemed to help, it actually dampened my desire.

I don't have urges to smoke now. My head is not full of snot. I've put on weight...about 10lbs...which is meh. But I feel less worried about my lung health and the sneaky thoughts I had about that issue were cumbersome.

How is everyone doing?

Hey there, well done on 9 mos! I just passed 3.5 myself, and it's getting better, but not great.

The libido has not returned, but same person 7 years, kids under 5, depression, take your pick. Idk, but I just don't care much about it.
And that was NOT the case for 25 years! Oh well, time will tell.

Looking forward to 6 months, then 9, then a year!

Hi...a quick check in!

I'm 10 months weed free now and 8 months cigarette free.
No more urges to smoke.
Sleep is adequate.
Sex life is fab - I always thought my libido was low. Ha!
Weight gained has been about 12lb in total.

My thyroid levels dropped when I stopped smoking cigarettes and my daily thyroxine dose needed an increase of 25mcg daily...this has probably added to the weight gain risk. My doctor said that smoking nicotine increases metabolism, hence weight gain weight when they stop.

I avoid saying 'never again', but I don't feel like smoking weed or tobacco now and I'm so glad that I've persisted with this journey.

Fantastic, great work. Very inspiring. I'm exactly half way to where you are. Five months on September 4. Struggling with brain issues and social functioning, and for some reason I can't fake my way through it nearly as well as before. Or maybe I'm seeing clearly that I never was, idk. Anyway lots of good days too ..I know it'll be worth it in the end.

Wow 3 years ! That's amazing...at 6 months exactly today. 7/7/20 was the last time I smoked. Still struggling a bit to be honest, but to be expected I suppose. Would you share some thoughts and experiences you had at this stage and the like?

Well, I’m at 6 months and 10 days. Had a bad night last night, kept waking up with heart racing. That’s my 2 biggest issues now. Can’t sleep solid, only a hour or so then I wake up. This pattern over and over all night. And like I said, when I do wake up my heart is racing. I’ve had a stress test, several ekgs, and wore a heart monitor for 12 days. Only thing the doc said was I had an irregular heartbeat at times. My palpitations and heart worries are still my main concern, however, it does seem to be improving somewhat. If my heart would be normal, and if I could get back to sleeping right, I could handle the rest of the issues with no problem. I’m way better than a couple of months ago but still not there yet. Some days don’t even notice the heart palpitations and racing other days it’s more noticeable. This forum has been a big help at times. Seems like it has affected my heart more than most others here on these forums. Maybe it’s just all anxiety. Just not sure why my heart races upon waking...pretty sure it’s not sleep apnea. Thanks for listening.

My wife has this and she never smoked weed... having SVT is quite normal even if annoying. Avoid stimulants like tea and coffee or anything with caffeine in.

Thanks tokeless, I’m off caffeine. I only noticed this after I quit weed, or maybe I had it and just didn’t realize it. At the moment with all this going on I’m super sensitive to any heart issues...I guess I’m focusing to much on it. I gotta say man some of your post really helped me through all this. I’m only 10 days into month 7. Wish I was as far along as you are. I thank you for all your posts, they really have help me a great deal.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm considered a hater by some on here but I can't emphasise enough about the effect of anxiety on people's beliefs. That's not to say some don't suffer or feel like sh** but PAWS has become some syndrome that people cling too because it makes sense to them when they need an answer.. part of helping with addiction is working with resistance and blocking. I know at this time physical health is highlighted but for many of us the issues are psychological more.
Best wishes.
