Hi Ben,
Already, I like the idea how it embraces paradoxical truths... that we are imperfect & need to accept ourselves that way... and... that we want to work on making our lives better.
Thanks for some good ideas & suggestions. :)

Yes because accepting the issue instead of ignoring it is needed. When you can acknowledge it and take responsibility that is when you can start making the changes.

Self acceptance is a very important thing to develop.

Glad you got something from it. :)

Ok but you have made no attempt to tell us your opinion on this Origgiffini so it's hard to take the post seriously.

"Focusing" reaches deep, and its kind of effortless too. It was "discovered" by Gendlin though people do it naturally, some more than others.

In a way it works with the body.

You do not need a therapist, its very simple to learn. But you probably need to find a partner who has learnt it basically.

There are some "Focusing" courses around if you look that could give you a great start.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, Purplesky & everyone else. :)

Lately, I've been noting my dreams - looking up possible symbolic meanings.
I also found this clip that has some inspiring nature scenes and affirmations... but I don't really like the audio, so I keep it mute... plus it's usually late at night when everyone else is sleeping when I've made time for things like that.

As I watch them, I notice I can't fool myself, when I know some are not completely true.
So, I kindof go with the idea that, "even if I do not feel this way now, I hope to..." or something that is more honest, but encouraging.

Yoga meditations - during class with a particularly spiritual teacher - have been amazing. It's like therapy - lots of tears - & it feels like I'm healing then & there. I just need to find time and ways to do that on my own.

They say that emotions are the key to really making an impression, so I've also tried to limit my music to things that are somehow upbeat or inspiring. Songs also tend to get in your head... my kids have my work out CD's memorized & will start singing the next song before it starts.
This one they could probably sing on their own...

I need to dance more too - I always feel better. Signing songs (with sign language) is also very symbolic, which I imagine might be impressionable subconsciously.

This is an interesting thread, but I feel that it is all related to an undefinable concept of the "subconscious", which can be translated into a reservoir of memories of environmental events.
This may leads us into believing that the interpretation of all our feelings are ultimately derived from our environment and thus ignores the fact that many of our emotions are just the result of an inner biochemical abnormality, not in any way related to whatever may or may have been going on in the environment.

This may expose many psychologists to becoming victim of "Psychological Projection" by assuming that all our emotional experiences must necessarily be related to external events.
