Pros and Cons of Therapy

Postby WeWillHeal » Sun Nov 14, 2021 3:54 pm

Hey everyone. I am on day 84 and currently coming down from a week long wave of healthy anxiety, fear of the future, depression etc. Symptoms are better that the first month and a half but I also know that things are not always linear and the road ahead could be filled with challenges. I am committed to never using marijuana again.

I am curious what people on this board think of Therapy and wonder if there are any recommendations for certain types of therapists? I am worried that many will not be educated on what many of us have experienced as a result of marijuana. That being said, I think it could be really beneficial to talk someone about all of this.

I refuse to take any medication and I want to get through this without any prescriptions. Part of my worry is that this would be recommended to me from a therapist.

I would love to hear from anyone who would like to share their experiences (Good or Bad) with therapy.

Have a great day!

One significant con is money issue if you are not rich but in my case i dont care about the money i spent on my new therapist as someone paid thousands to a gay jerk.

I highly recommend the DARE online group. Read the DARE book by Barry McDonough first. Anxiety disorders (including what we have been dealing with from Cannabis) can be part biological and part psychological, but the way forward is the same. Acceptance, and engaging with life rather than fighting and dwelling on how we feel. DARE seems the most solution oriented approach I've found, the goal is complete recovery not continual dependence on therapists. Also if you join the online group, you'll find others with anxiety issues like ours, but haven't smoked cannabis. Some it's personal trauma, others it's other medications or substances. Different beginnings, but the same path. Consider it. They have an App too.
