Distraction or Laziness

Postby Cootsimo » Tue Sep 29, 2015 5:04 am

Recently I have been in a lazy and pathetic slump. Things I need to do keep piling up and my will power keeps going down.

I feel exhausted and tired all the time. I usually do not take care of basic things due to just not wanting to. Self control may have a role but I am just a confused, unmotivated, and lazy perso n.

How can I start doing what I should be doing?

I would love to brush my teeth every night, wake up early, and do my homework. I would be much happier.

You mention homework so you sound very young. Firstly work out what's making you so tired. Are you getting enough sleep? Get checked out by a doctor if your tiredness isn't due to lack of sleep. Try and organise yourself a little. write down what you should be doing each day, and tick them off as you finish each task. Reward yourself for having achieved them.
It also sounds like you could be suffering from depression, so if there is nothing medically wrong and you still can't motivate yourself think about seeing a counsellor.

Often, fatigue and lack of motivation are results of stress. Is there a lot of stress in your life? Are you worried about something?

I have the same problem. Lately I cannot get anything done at all and I am so tired. I just end up doing nothing and I see everything piling up and I feel stressed out. In my case it is very situational. I am in an overall stressful life situation so all my energy is being eaten up by it.

Is there anything in your life that could be stressing you out or taking away this energy?

It could also be that you don't have a routine. If you were able to create one and stick to it, no matter how painful it is in the beginning, you will start seeing results, which I think will make you feel a bit happier.

You might also want to check your thyroid functions and hemmoglobin. Could have a physical reason why you are feeling that way.

If you obsess too much with something else like games , that is where you spending all the energy, you can save some to spend it somewhere else, it means you have to sacrifice

Disciplines are not natural, but we decide to so something
We decide to do homework
We decide to take care of ourselves
So is about decisons
It comes from a question like
What am i supposed to do this moment, should i play a video game or go wash my teeth?
Ok i go wash my teeth first and see what else i can do

Looks pretty much like you need to arrange a consultation with a medical health professional to establish first of all whether or not your lethargy is physically or psychologically based, or perhaps both.

Wow. I feel exactly the same. The reason of my condition is pure stress, though. I wont say I know what to do, but I'll say you arent alone. To keep pushing yourself, and you'll become happier as you win against your own devils everyday. :)

Sounds like a depression to me.

Find your passion for life, things you want to do, life purpose etc. Then you will no longer want to waste your time. You will be motivated to create a life that you want. You can ask yourself simple questions like if you enjoy studying? Do you like what you are studying? it's a great opportunity to review your lifestyle too.

We are social animals. Turn to your family and friends for support.

If you are suffered from stress, take a break and go to the nature. Or do some travelling. Leave everything behind and start some adventure. You may have a refreshed mind when you are back.

Good luck!

The original post is now several months old. I wonder if things have changed since. Does anyone know? There are elements in this situation that don't sound like a passing down-in-the-dumps feeling we all get from time to time.

If you are still stuck? Pick one thing and track it.

For example, brush your teeth right now and mark it off on your calendar with a check mark. Then tomorrow brush your teeth again and check it off.

See how long it takes you to get three in a row. Then aim at four in a row, adding one more each time.

Getting one habit will encourage you.

Seeing your progress will inspire you to choose another thing.

You'll gain what's called momentum. Basically, what you are doing is becoming part of who you are, and it pulls you forward.
