Am I socially awkward?!

Postby Christine132456 » Fri Feb 26, 2016 7:22 pm

I wanted to know if I'm socially awkward and how I can get more confident, particularly infront of boys.

So some background,
I do to high school and have a group of friends m, none of us are un popular, I guess we could be popular if we wanted to, we all do get some attention from boys but I just freeze and don't know what to say! It's not just boys it's girls that are naughty and quite popular with loads of confidence. I just don't know how to act.
Today in the lunch que a group of boys came along and started "flirting" but I didn't know what to say my friend was having a joke with them but I just stood there and wanted to get out the situation!

Practice.

Start talking with boys you don't have any interest in, that will help make it less difficult. And for any boy, you can practice just saying hi...you don't have to worry about what you will say after "hi" as it doesn't really matter.

The biggest mistake young people make is thinking they need to try something tricky or witty. After thousands of years, the best technique is to just say, "Hi, I'm Jill how are you doing?"

And practice asking open ended questions, like "What have you been up to?"

Setting a goal to practice can help, too. For example, you might set a goal to practice once each lunch! As you feel more confident, increase it to twice each lunch, then perhaps to three times during a day.
