Hey,
Firstly there's gonna be complete recovery, you gotta believe in that, and yes they do tone down, tone up and sometimes just spiral and go inside where they came from. And yes, there has been progress, and yup alcohol does mess up the situation to a degree that makes it worse. In terms of progress, as you said, the more you get used to them, the more they start toning down. Mostly it's anxiety around it which first subsides, then the earworms themselves. Being in a routine, keeping yourself busy helps and well regarding my progress, I feel, If I do recall, it did bother me a lot when I first realized it was happening, now it's mostly there but you start working around it, just today I was taking a nap, with the earworms more or less very prominent and out of nowhere it just drained in and there wasn't complete silence but I could literally feel it going inside and then there was this tingling in my ear, the low-frequency sound you hear, so something is happening up there.
Other than that, definitely have to pull it through the 1-year mark to actually see something substantial, really working on improving my mental health and hoping for the best. And for me, the way it's become manageable is, that my body wouldn't react to it, so I could work on whatever I'm doing without being bothered, so there's less reaction to it, I think that has come naturally, and personally for me, if the earworms subside, I'd be completely recovered I feel, so let's hope for the best!
