PAWS after 2 years off weed

Postby TMT » Sun Apr 19, 2020 8:33 am

Hello folks, I've really benefited from this forum for the past 2 years but could not contribute because an iPad I was using refused to register on the platform, it was a UK fairly used. I'm happy to be onboard now, I will thank some names that I found solace in their posts later.
I smoked weed and cigarettes for over 20 years, but intensely with alcohol for the past 10 years. I quitted all cold turkey without any professional support except for my wife and 3 kids who were loving, tolerant and encouraging. I was declining and losing socially, physically and emotionally and felt quitting was the only option to get my life back on track. I'm a senior government employee in Nigeria with prospect of moving higher. It wasn't easy folks I had all the symptoms of weed PAWS sustained for over a year. I cried, I was suicidal, became wasted because I didn't know what was happening to me. Doctors could not give me an accurate diagnosis because I felt they didn't even understand what was happening to me, untill I found this online forum. Today I'm 28 months clean no relapse, feeling much better and almost forgotten about PAWS. However some strange but familiar symptoms suddenly hit me recently, headaches, feverish, stomach upset and bloating, tiredness etc, I tried medications but all failed, that's when I began to suspect that it might be PAWS. luckily it fell within the global Corona pandemic lockdown and I'm trying to cope but it's not funny at all. I'm just surprised at how PAWS would hit me unaware, during what I consider a relaxing and stress free period, thank you all once again.

Congrats on being over two years free. I'm almost at two years and it's gotten somewhat better but I'm still in the thick of it. Hope your symptoms go away, how severe are they compared to how they were before?

Thanks CT21, PAWS a bit milder than when it started sincerely. Long good periods like 2-4 months, then bad days lasting a week or two. Some of the bad days are really ugly like I just quit.

Thanks tokeless, please let dhae2604 know that the course of this sh** called PAWS is always different with individuals. I may have some underlying factors which intensify or prolong it, some symptoms may also be more pronounced in me than the other victim, but I believe one thing is certain, PAWS takes time and commitment to overcome, especially if you are a long term user. The physical, social, emotional and spiritual damage caused by 10-20 years continuous chemical intoxication cannot be repaired in a jiffy.

Hey there. I have only ever given my opinions based on life experiences and working in addictions. You, as with everyone can chew it or spit it out, your choice as with most things. I've been off weed for somewhere around 8 years but who counts eh? I don't consider clean because I was never dirty in the first place... I chose my habit.
Nobody is an expert in anything because things change as we do but if you ever need a smart backside there's plenty to go round. Stay safe and well and make good choices.
