Can this personality/mentality exist?

Hi,

In this example, this is a man in his 60's or 70's.

Since he was 30 he's been writing a lot of thick books about the importance of virtues like peace, joy, love, harmony and so on. And his teachings go really deep and very detailed on all those subjects (that's important!) Let's say 10X more detailed than regular books.

These books are almost all free, so he's not earning a solid income from this. No one is forcing him to do this.

He doesn't claim to be a guru or anything. So just a normal man, a teacher on these subjects.

But at the same time, all this time he's been doing some big hoax (all by himself, not for profit or because he's threatened or forced, etc.).

Do you know of any people like that? Can that be even possible?

Can we compare this man with perhaps the pope doing some hoax (without being forced/influenced etc.)?

Thanks

Sure it is possible. It happens all the time. Every single one of us is fallible. Every single one of us can hold certain beliefs that we truly believe in, yet at the same time violate those beliefs.

In most religious texts there is at least some wisdom about the inevitable nature of "sin" and that not a single person is without sin...even the pope. So it is easily possible for a man in his 60's or 70's that has dedicated his life to values X, Y, and Z to at the same time have instances where he has violated those beliefs.

You just defined the built in hypocrisy of the human condition. Do as I say, not as I do. Its much easier to hand out a standard than to participate in it.
