How do I deal with this guy at work?

Postby cloudsurfer503 » Thu Aug 11, 2016 7:01 am

I am a full-time student in college and I work at Taco Bell. I get along with the entire team of people, but there is one other young man around my age that makes it a point to "shoulder check" me every single time he walks by me. He crowds my space and has NO respect for me, yet I do not experience this with one other person at work, let alone school. I do not want to psychology break down why he acts this way, but rather learn how to best deal with this in the most mature, healthy and positive manner possible, without rising tensions or provoking any sort of future gossip, etc.

Shoulder check? You mean physically touching you without consent.

You tell him to stop, if it continues you go to your supervisor and inform him or her of hostile working conditions, if it continues you go to both the police as well as the owner of the franchise. At the same time you go civil and file a lawsuit for a hostile work environment. Make sure you document each encounter.

One thing you got to remember that you are working in someone else's place. So most of the time you got to respect the rouges to keep peace around you. When you step on a sh** you won' beat it again until it spills on your face. You just take your foot off and clean it with water, You have to do exactly same here respect him until he can not escape giving respect back.

if it is affecting your work, meaning what he does is preventing you from doing your job problem or doing your job well, then you should talk to him. If that does not work, talk to your supervisor.

On the other hand, if what he is doing is not getting in the way of you doing your work well, then just ignore him. Sooner or later he will just go away.

There is an excellent book called :
Coping with Difficult People: The Proven-Effective Battle Plan That Has Helped Millions Deal with the Troublemakers in Their Lives at Home and at Work by Robert M Bramson
You can order it at any bookshop or via amazon.
This book has helped me deal with various difficult situations . Just read it often and apply its advice. :D

Tell him to stop shoulder checking you because it annoys you. He should respect your boundaries.

Let's see how he reacts.
