Hi Roger,

I am gathering ideas on this subject for a case study that i am doing in a particular course.

How effective can Hypnosis be in helping someone deal with a tumour. And what sort of metaphors/analagy could you use in this case?

Or put differently - what would you be hoping to achieve with your metaphor ?

Ok let's see. Male, suffering from a tumour. currently undergoing chemotherapy to try and kill the tumour. Seeks hypnotherapy to
increase his chances. How can we help him kill or at least weaken
the tumour?

Specifically what kind of metaphors could we use in this scenario to help his body fight the tumour, making it smaller, or destroying it alltogether?

I recently had a client who was undergoing chemo, and I used the metaphore of alien invaders getting shot down by the good guys, and also police patroling the body looking out for any criminals.

I also did alot of work on anxiety and stress levels which can help strengthen the immune system.

A great metaphor from havens 'Hypnotherapy Scripts' that Im sure will inspire you to build others is aimed at immune system responses to infections but could be helpful to you.

It concerns a type of tree in Africa, upon which lives a particular kind of Ant. The ant spends its entire lifecycle on the tree feeding from the tree making its nest in the tree. However the ant also protects the tree by driving off any other foreign invaders, no other insect is allowed to populate the tree....

If you are serious about directing this mans resources at the tumour then try some quantum style healing, talk directly to those cells responsible for the problem and the solution. Check Ernest Rossi's work for some ideas.

How powerful are these techniques? Is it possible to cure cancer/kill brain tumours etc using Hypnosis? Or can these techniques just be used as an added effort along with chemo-therapy and the like?
