panic attacks -maybe? definitely a confidence problem

Hi
im not really sure if what im experiencing is a panic attack but anyway
im a 20 year old student living at home and i need help :!:

I have a dilemma at the moment which i know is completely stupid - i fear the hairdressers! I went to one in January and i was extremely nervous (id had no problem with them before), argh, my entire body began to shake, needless to say the woman attending me asked if anything was wrong and i said i was fine, everytime she used the shaver on my head my body shook, especailly around my stomach, i tried to relax but couldnt by the end i was totally humiliated and had no idea why it had happened.
Since then ive been to the hairdressers again but it happened again, it wasnt as bad as the first time though as i began to relax near the end but still....
Anybody had any experience with this in similar situations? NB i dont actually have a fear of the hairdressers ie. of scissors etc but just a fear of shaking!

This wasnt the first time this had happened but was by far the worst. Other instances: hands shaking during presentations, increased heart rates included, an inabilty to eat in front of people which includes family members and close friends - ugh, drinking in pubs or other social situations my hands shake.
Although for a time last year i got over the 'drinking' problem and it came back after the hairdressers incident in January.

Id say the hands shaking has affected me for 5 years, it never used to bother me all that much, i could ignore it and get on with my life but now as im older i begin to think this shouldnt be happening to me and now im totally self-concious about it happening.
Ive never been a highly confident person, i embarrass easily but i go through periods of good and bad and since i need a hair cut :D
i could use some help.

thanks
Phil
