Dreams that happen in real life

Postby Carlie Nye » Mon Apr 30, 2018 11:12 pm

Is there a term for dreams that become reality?

I have had several dreams that later happen in real life. All of which have been unfortunate events.

One dream I had, I dreamed that I almost drowned, fast forward and it almost really happened. Another dream I had, someone tells me that my dad died. Fast forward and I’m told he died in an accident. Then I dreamed that I hit an animal on my way to work and that happened too.

This leads me to wonder if my dreams are trying to warn me about what could happen in the future. If my dreams are trying to warn me about things that could happen, I want to know if there is a way to avoid having these things happen. I’ve had quite a bit of dreams about car crashes. In most of them, it feels like I’m moving too fast and that my brakes aren’t working. In one of them, my mom died. I haven’t told her about this dream. I’ve been kind of freaked out mainly because some of my dreams have actually happened. The fact of the matter is, I can’t not drive. I have work and other places I have to go. I don’t know if I’m freaking out over nothing or if I should seriously be concerned. Maybe there is a deeper meaning to these dreams that I’m not getting.

I've had prophetic dreams, too, and always about bad things that subsequently happened. I don't know what the function of these dreams is, but I don't see how you can prevent them coming true. As you say, you can't give up driving or be put off swimming for the rest of your life.

The phenomenon says interesting things about the subconscious, doesn't it?

Every single thing you mentioned in your dreams happened to me too. Those are matters in life that can and do happen. There's nothing prophetic in the scope of those dreams. What gives them weight is your insistence that if one or all of them come to pass, it should mean something more. It doesn't. You only control yourself. There is no crystal ball that tells you your future. Life is happening around you each and every day. Choices are made that impact others. We get older and free will means sometimes accidents happen. You can be afraid of the inevitable or embrace it and make the most of your life. People die and animals get hit by cars every day. Several bought the farm while I typed this message. Quit wasting your life thinking someone is behind the curtains controlling the mighty Wizard of Oz in your life. It's just you overthinking the irony of life that happens every day. Bad things DO happen. Try and make life good for yourself instead trying to make appointments with the bad. It's going to come whether you dream about it or not. You don't control that and your dreams are only dialing into probabilities in life that we ALL live with (not just you). Life is short. Make each day matter. All my best.

If your dreams did predict the future, it probably was an indirect correlation.

Your stress causes you to have a dream about a car crash; and it also makes it more likely to get into a car crash IRL.

I'm not saying the dreams didn't predict your future, but it seems like you're jumping to that conclusion, which may say more about you than the dreams ever could.

I've had this happen. It was for a "negative" event, but just mild embarassment. I had a very specific dream, and then about a week later it happened. The thing is, when the event happened, I was in a new place so there was no way I could've enivisioned it. The details were all specific and matched my dream perfectly. Even the feeling of embarassment i sensed in my dream happened in the event. My dream predicted the future, no doubt about that. I have no clue how.

Except the location, time, etc.

The location was spot on. The event took place at a school I had never been to before, so it was physically "impossible" to see the environment in my dreams and predict what would happen. But I did. In my dream I also saw people standing around me, and when the event happened the people were there too. It was literally seeing the future.
The time was vague-the daytime. I didn't envisage a specific hour or minute, but my dream and the event were in the day.

I had a strange dream happen around 1997 in Estonia. I had arrived in Estonia from St Petersburg and it was my first time in Estonia. The Estonian language is strongly related to Finnish. On arrival I found a bed and breakfast agency that organized places to stay for tourists. To cut a long story short, a blond girl drove me in her car to one of the places on their list. We parked up and entered this wooden house. There was an oldish, white haired woman and the young blond woman chatted to her in Estonian. I then realised I had dreamed of the house and the old woman in a childhood dream. It was all very familiar. After two minutes the blond girl grabbed my hand and dragged me out. She was terrified. The house just scared her to death. More recently I discovered Estonia is a pretty witchy country. Far more recently I read by chance that Eugen Bleuler had done his research in Estonia but couldn't speak Estonian.

If you look at Vega in the night sky, the light that actually registers in your eye took roughly 25 years to get to you. Travelling at 300,000.0000 meters a second. The image therefore in relation to yourself is past, but it just seems like present. The image of Vega is an accurate representation but not "real" in the sense of physics.
