Overcoming Fear of Speaking to Others

Postby cgmom88 » Sun Jul 24, 2016 5:13 am

Hi. I have had many traumatic events happen in my life and for years it didn't seem like anyone understood. Due to this reason and some others I was scared to speak in front of others, especially about my issues but finally I did it.

This is SPAM, promoting your YouTube channel. I can appreciate that you are hurting and in pain, but this is not how you heal or contribute to the community.

I realize you might feel that putting your videos out on Youtube is a catharsis for you and that is great, but I have seen this before and it does not end positively. YouTube is not the proper tool for you. YouTube can come with a lot of negativity, especially related to videos produced more for the one producing the video than those expected to watch the video. IMO, your lighting is bad, sound is bad and delivery is less than appealing. In general, people want a positive messages. They don't want to watch a somber, sad person talking about the sad music they like.

Bottom line, I think there are better, more productive ways you can heal.

You over come your fear by realising that opportunity comes after difficulty and the process repeats. I have always been extremely passionate about motivational speaking, and I've started a YouTube channel with motivational videos and an Instagram account with daily posts but I'm not going to list those on this site because I'm not here to spam.

We have all been through hard times, some more extreme than others but it rains on the rich as well as the poor, at night the sun goes down on all of us. The big step to take to over come anxiety is to realise that it happens to everyone and to realise that if you really want to become greater than you are then you have to make great changes to yourself. No one will every achieve anything standing inside of their comfort zone that is a fact. Fear gets the best of most people but its good to remember that you are the only one feeling your own fear, everyone else looking at you is just intrigued by who you are and what you have to say if they wasn't then they wouldn't be there.

What you need to do to overcome a specific type of fear is do more of what you fear doing. You may not perform as great as you'd like for the first 10, 20, or 100 times, and you will likely not perform the way you want, but you need to do it over and over again, seek more opportunities to speak with people or in public, craft a powerful message that can engage and help others, go volunteer somewhere. Do what you fear most and you control fear, right? Also remember that the most successful people out there, and I mean the really successful ones, have failed thousands of times. They just did not give up. Speaking of role models...
