c-ptsd sexual abuse book recommendations

Postby Leander2390 » Mon Jun 08, 2020 1:32 pm

Hello, in another post I made another User had the suggestion I had C-PTSD and it was very fitting!
Since then I had informed myself in this topic, and I have bought a book "Surviving to Thriving-Pete Walker".
The Book in itself is very good and useful, but i couldn't completely identify myself with about 70% of the things he wrote. My Problems don't come from parental abuse but sexual abuse from another family member.
Only some exercises are suitable. I have looked on reddit and they had a C-PTSD book recommendation list, but it was very very overwhelming...
So now I am asking here in hopes that someone can give me some book recommendations about C-PTSD from sexual abuse in childhood. Almost every symptom from c-ptsd matches with my problems and I just want to learn how to be a functioning human being especially in a relationship...
Maybe you've read somehting that helped you or you just know something useful, every help is welcome :)

Then I will say, books are just a temporary fix. You'll identify with some parts and not with others, but as soon as you put the book down you're on your own again. This is the problem. You can't learn to function in relationship by reading books.

I hope you'll be able to find a therapist who understands the effects of child sexual abuse. This is particularly useful if you felt unable to tell a trusted adult, or if you did tell a trusted adult and he or she didn't help you.

Relationship is always the big issue in C-PTSD, so the therapist breaks a pattern by helping you establish a relationship of trust with him or her. Ideally this can then be extrapolated to other relationships.

There are also things you can watch that will reassure you there are people who understand. My favourite is Diane Langberg, who has a lot of videos on line. Maybe start with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3oB7D3Nl-8

The Out Of The Storm forum is a good resource, as well.

Are my suspects right? I'm moving to my own house my mother is sad about that. I don't want her to be sad.

This isn't your thread, desperate. You have dozens of threads and you know you can start new ones any time you like. Please don't inflict your endless complaint—first it was your father, then it was your sister, and now it's your mother—on other people.
