Broadening my view of Text-Based Inductions.

Postby Tyto » Mon May 13, 2019 12:56 am

Hello there, I'm rather new here, but I've been lurking for a while. I typically spend my time doing sessions over text, I particularly enjoy the unique style of writing one can adopt, and the versatility a text-based session can bring to the table. However my seething desire for more knowledge is driving me to seek methods outside of the classic Joe K Fobes methods. I would be most grateful if anyone who has methods outside of these could provide said resources to quench this desire for new methods. Thanks.

I suggest you stick to the classics

In all seriousness, back in the day I experimented with a lot of different ways of doing it. And some were pretty effective. It's really no different then face to face in that the method is just a way of guiding someone into a certain state of mind.

It's just that once I realized how quick and easy it was to use the signals, and how much faster it was than anything else, I started using that exclusively.

I probably have some old conversations I saved back in my archives somewhere.

But go ahead and experiment, and come back and show us what you've discovered!

Wow! I did not expect you here Joe, thanks for your reply.

(Forgiving my ignorance as a 15 year old) I do really admire your methods, they work swimmingly with most of my subjects, excluding of course the ones that don't respond well to text :)
Ooft, I'm a bit in shock to be fair. A rather strange sensation. I appreciate your input Joe, thank you for having such a profound impact upon my development as a hypnotist with your methods. I will continue to improve and hopefully maybe even flesh out to my own developments when it comes to text-based inductions.

I also hope to one day discuss the subject with you, but I'm doubtful, considering your time-restraints.

Thanks for the kind words! Always nice to hear that a budding new hypnotist has discovered this very magical corner of reality. It really streches your understanding of how the mind works and what makes people tick.

I myself learned how to hypnotize from these forums. Unfortunately the forum is not as active as it was back in the day when the legendary Anthony Jacquin and Kev Sheldrake hang around, but you can still get a decent education.

Jimmy is someone I consider a master at this stuff, I'm sure he will have some wise words to offer. If Jargan is lurking silently, perhaps he will pop in as well.

One thing I can say is that you learn by experimentation. So keep trying new things, think about what your results mean, and keep building on that.

If you have specific questions, feel free to ask them as well, if they are something I feel qualified to answer and I have the time I'll definitely chime in.

Sometimes the fun part is figuring out why things aren't working when they don't work, and designing new methods based off that. What, specifically is happening when they're not responding well?

Typically it's when people require an auditory stimulus when in a session. It's only with a minute minority, but a few subjects who don't respond all that great (that being entering only a light trance and not accepting many suggestions, and popping out frequently) to text, will respond magnificently to my voice in a session. It mostly was dependent on the subject themselves.

It could also be a case of my incompetence at the time, as I don't run with a script, I lay out my sessions different every time. And I'm most certainly not going to blame a subject for not responding much to textual suggestion. In short I've found the optimal way to lay out my session to be very humanistic in nature. Focusing more on the preference of the subject, as things should be (bless you Erickson). I will typically modulate my sessions around said preferences, and I believe that is what's caused me to have typically successful sessions with most of my subjects.

Sounds pretty successful then. What's there to improve on?
