Re: Forgetting information.

This is an interesting topic, and one that doesn't lend itself to an answer which is both simple and useful. You don't have to remember anything you don't want to remember. I'm sure you forget things all the time, just as I do. I don't remember what I had for lunch three days ago, because it just do...

Re: A unique case. Hypnosis gone wrong- I need help.

Okay, so yours is the more interesting type. The good news is that you can "self hypnotize" well enough to reach the lever yourself, and so you don't need a hypnotist per se. What you need is an understanding of why it's stuck only moving one way so that you can fix that and move it back t...

I think something went wrong in your reply. All that is there is what I said.

Re: A unique case. Hypnosis gone wrong- I need help.

When you tried it, did it feel like you would have been able to relax things further if you had wanted to and just couldn't make things tighter, or did it feel like you had no control either way?

Re: A unique case. Hypnosis gone wrong- I need help.

Hi Pelepone, I'm sorry that you just got uselessly vague suggestions from the hypnotists you've seen. It's often not necessary to be all that specific, but they really should have figured out on the spot that they weren't getting the response you came for. Someone more competent should be able to no...

Re: First Instant Induction

Candid,

Keep reading. Don't worry, you have absolutely nothing to worry about

Richard,

Candid is good at this. You should ask her for lessons on how to be playful and not come off as petty and insecure.

Re: First Instant Induction

For someone so vocally against hypnosis, you sure have an interesting way of spending your time Candid. I'd suggest that you're right and you should stay away, but it seems you just can't help yourself

Re: Hynotherapy session gone wrong, in need of help!

Realising, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with a hypnotist and that you now have to deal with this sh**. A competent hypnotist can definitely help you with this, although as you've seen, competence is not trivial to ensure and not every apple out there is a good one. The best simple advice ...

Re: A Theory.

Here’s my take: Emotions can induce trance, but are not required for it. Think of all the times you’ve focused on something to the other without being all that “emotional” about it. Neuroticism is more about negative emotions than positive, and positive emotions work find for hypnosis and trance. sh...

Re: Post-hypnotism

Ok. So, a quick question, does hypnosis have any effect on severe panic and anxiety problems? Problems like guilt, health anxiety etc? Hypnosis can absolutely reach such things. However, so can other forms of therapy. The more simple and isolated the problem is ("yeah, everything is completely...

Re: Broadening my view of Text-Based Inductions.

excluding of course the ones that don't respond well to text

Sometimes the fun part is figuring out why things aren't working when they don't work, and designing new methods based off that. What, specifically is happening when they're not responding well?

Re: Positive age regression

This is true. Remembering things in general is quite fallible (when done carelessly or without awareness of what one is actually doing), and hypnosis does not magically make it less so. If done carelessly or without awareness of what one is doing, hypnosis can easily make it *more* fallible, both by...

Re: Post-hypnotism

Are these sort of treatments effective at all? I have heard a lot of people practice hypnosis and boast by their results, but I have to say, I do not know how it works or anything What approaches, for what, and relative to what standard of effectiveness? The answer changes quite a bit depending on ...
