Re: New Test For Neurological Variation

We hold evenings sacred, but I'm increasingly enraged by his incessant leg-jiggling while seated. I can halt it (in various ways) but it starts up again in seconds. What's THAT about, I wonder? My autism correspondent calls this 'stimming'. I'm guilty of doing this when I'm stressed, bored, or over...

Re: ASD And The Silicon Valley Dream

Going to slot in here with some purely anecdotal dribble, as this discussion hits fairly close to home, and decent points are being brought up all around the table. Essentially I'm using your post as an optic to project my own stories and opinions, as a person with Autism (or at least, thought of to...

Re: Staying alive

You treat Candid as if she were a god, Desperate. Praying and praying, asking and asking, whining and whining. Though she may be human (at least, I think so :?) she has displayed an inhuman amount of patience with you. Maybe instead of a thank you once in a blue moon, you should actually take her ad...

Re: How to form stronger friendships with Australians?

Ahh. I've never been to Reading. I'd imagine you get this a lot, but we have Reading cinemas here in NZ. That's about the one cultural taste I've had from there lol!

Re: How to form stronger friendships with Australians?

I ponder the grey sky I see from my window in the height of our summer and sigh for an accessible beach that isn't so packed on the occasional scorcher that there's no room for one more towel. And that's after a couple of hours crawling along among cars all headed the same way, plus trying to find ...

Re: How to form stronger friendships with Australians?

I live in New Zealand, but have lived in australia for an odd year or so, enough to get somewhat of a grip on the culture. Haere Mai, my friend. I wish I could leave, but I'm too dependent on my parents despite being 21 years old. How do you plan to not be so dependent on your parents? Are you able ...

Re: Therapist dodging almost everything I throw at him.

Thank you Candid. It does very much bother me that a stranger over the internet is a better source of comfort for my mental health than two mental health clinicians who're supposed to be in one of the highest chains of psychiatry in New Zealand. Then again, there's a reason we have the highest rates...

Therapist dodging almost everything I throw at him.

Hey. I'm fairly young to the mental health community, I've only been in therapy for around 2 years now. I wasn't wanting to go there, but after venting a little to one of my teachers (I was 15 at the time), she elected for me to be sent immediately to go get help. If that help was from a counselor o...
