Binge Eating Disorder

Postby ClaireNatalie » Sun Jan 25, 2015 8:46 pm

Diagnosed with binge eating disorder approx. 2years ago, and have struggled with this ever since. The dietician/psychologist said they didn't think I realised just how bad I had it either and how it hadn't been seen sooner.
Currently not under any treatment for this, but struggling with it at the moment.
Just looking for anyone else on here with this diagnosis to have a chat to about any techniques.
Thanks, C.

I'm not aware of anyone else on here diagnosed with that specific disorder. One technique you may want to try is having some "go to" actions that replace eating. Whenever you begin to think about eating, you instead pick one of the go to actions such as going for a walk, etc.

Another thing you may want to do is set up the environment around you to be supportive. For example, do not have excess or unhealthy foods in the home.

Another thing is having some healthy foods you can eat as much as you want that are no or low calorie.

Last, set up an action-feedback reward system that rewards you for when you do good. For example if you don't bing eat for a week then let yourself have a "free day".

Anyway, just throwing out some ideas for you.

excuse my English i'm not a native

but I wanted to share something with anroxians there

anroxians all they need is to believe in themselves that they are capable in following a diet and get away of eating fats and junks or exercising. they don't need to stay still thinking of themselves they can't and the only way to be slim is starvation, no! they need to believe in the process they just lack patience and love to go extreme.

Soon you could get through with it, many people struggled with what you're experiencing now and yet they've managed to cope with it.

Hi Richard.. isn't that a type of possible binging behaviour in that it creates a reward on that day.. ie i can eat exceseively?
I work with heroin and crack users who do similar on pay day, e.g every 2 weeks they 'treat' themselves for not using for the past 2 weeks.. creates a pattern for using that becomes hard to shake off as they justify using because they've 'done well'.

Hello, I am a girl who also struggles with this disorder after overcoming anorexia I found myself with this issue. Although I am in a better place it still sucks to have this effecting my life still. I find that if I concentrate on finding healthy structure in other aspects of my life it helps tremendously. I know how hard this condition is to overcome but I promise you it doesn't have to continue and I work on it everyday.
