For Most People in this Day and Age, with the Super High Cost of Medical or Psychological Services, the Only Real Professional Help would come from Going to Prison.

Many Ex-cons who realize they are Seriously Dysfunctional make it a point to Stay in Prison. and the System makes it easy enough for them to do so. Usually when an Inmate is close to finishing out their 'Sentence', they are released 'On Parole' and given a huge list of Infractions that will get them Tossed Back In. They are Scheduled to go see a Parole Officer who doesn't do much more that Simply Ask if Any of the Rules had been Violated. You would be surprised at how many Ex-cons will answer back "All of Them"...

Prison is not many people's Idea of Fun, BUT, the World is turning More and More into a Jungle, and in comparison the Prisons now don't look quite as bad as they used to... and there is No Where else to go for Help, is there?

Wow! What great Advice!

I particularly like the Jogging Idea... though when People Really get involved with 'jogging' they start to call it "Running". For instance, most every City or Town of any size in America or the UK has a 'Running Club', which organizes Races and provides training tips and other useful guidance. But their is nary a single "Jogging Club" on the entire planet.

The Great Thing about Running Clubs is that the Great Majority of the People are so Nice, Healthy and Wholesome. People tend to Live Up To the company they keep, and these Fellow Runners offer a Very Good Influence on our Character and our Behavior. I suppose Spiritual and Religious Societies SHOULD also be Good Influences, but one can't count upon them not to be kind of 'creepy', insolar and 'narrow-minded' at times.

Train really hard so you don' t have energy to do that. Don't let your emotions overrun your common sense.

Hi Alise,

Yes, it is good to have a ‘Hobby’. In fact, it became something of a ‘Fad’ a while back, under the label of ‘Flow Activity’ – something that a Person could engage in that would just ‘carry them away’ for hours… and with little sense of the passing of time. This is a Good Distraction. Music and Math are pass-times that work well for me…

But what you seem to advise is to just dissipate all of one’s energy and be continuously too weak, tired and fatigued to lift a ‘trouble making’ finger. Yes, THAT would work… but at the detriment of Career and Social Life, and anything of a Personal Relationship. Imagine telling your Wife that you are continuously too worn out to do anything that she might like to do…

Anyway, I wrote you a long Response to your own Post. Please feel free to PM me if you think your questions or comments may be inappropriate for the public Forum…

I sometime get urges like that. Not as often as you, but sometimes.
I started a workout regimen about a month ago, I exercise about 6 days a week now.
I started it to try and help me get rid of my feeling of pent up energy and anger, and also because of low self esteem.
My mood has improved overall, and even though I get bad thoughts it isn't as hard to resist them now.
I really recommend trying to stop clenching your jaw, or recognize your physical symptoms of getting angry, like Leo suggested. I tried his method and it has saved me quite a few times from going too far. Worth a try.

This is what Mysticdream is talking about, Mystic Dream's Thread: The Problem specifically with the kind of ‘Runaway Anger’ that you talk about – finding yourself Over-Reacting to an almost Violent Degree without seeming to have the ability to stop – that sources from Adrenaline. You know what Adrenaline is, I’m sure – it is triggered by very Basic Animal ‘Fight or Flight’ (or ‘Freeze’) Situations – Threats of Danger or Threats to Territory or Mating Opportunities… that kind of thing. But with Modern People, well, Adrenaline can sometimes Pop Up at all the Wrong Times.

The Trick is to Recognize the VERY ONSET of an Adrenaline Rush so you can ‘Will It’ to Stop immediately. You see, it only takes a moment to go from Initial Onset to Full Blast Adrenaline Rush – maybe just 2 Seconds… BUT, in that 2 seconds you have ‘plenty of time’ to save yourself. You just have to Catch It at its Very Start. For myself, I notice that my Jaw Muscles Tighten. SO, when that happens anymore, I know to INSTANTLY relax those muscles, and SOMEHOW that simply Shuts Down the Whole Rush right there.

I have 4 kitties and they each have gone through their Naughty Kitten Years (kitties don’t really Calm Down until they are well over 3) and I haven’t been ‘Angry’ with any of them in the last 15 years.

Observe yourself and see if you can learn what your First Adrenaline Sign is.
