Having work experience, feeling stress

Postby Hamming » Wed Mar 11, 2015 11:31 am

There are lot of topics about stress at work but I don't know how to search for my case.

The situation is this: I have like 4 years work experience at my field + a year as freelancer/learner when I lived at my parents home.

I am earning above minimum wage, but also my friend says that I might be underpaid like 30 %.

So the conclusions logically should be that my company should be very happy by having me and I should be happy because I know them being happy.

One reason is only that I would need to be unhappy - because I am possibly underpaid.

But things sometimes look other way around. One guy in the office who is better than me and decides who to hire and who not, asked few questions and I failed to answer, he wanted to see how competent I am.

And that probably makes me feel stressed - since they might think that I am incompetent enough.

But those 2 things does not make sense - I am too good for their salary and I am bad.

Plus I have heard that our company is not the one who can pay highest salaries in the market, so what are they thinking when they come to interviews, they are stupid when they ask for such big sums at our company. Especially when they don't know this this or that, or haven't worked with this this or that.

I mean they are not saying I am bad directly to me, but from the guy who asked me the questions to test me - from his body language I see - oh he is sucker. And also I heard him saying about those guys who he interviewed - giving the same answers as me, like how would you solve this - I would google it, the guy in interview said the same and he called him a 'googler'. He should know already without googling.

Also he states things like - there were guys in first grade at university who were better than those with long experience.

So lot of sh** words about people who are not as good.

Solution - to be at least as equal good as him? If everyone will be so good, then guess what will be with the salaries. He himself will not have the edge and will be just middle in the field.

So what should I think to not feel stress? My friend says just change the job.

But on the other hand this job is good, I saw lot of jobs which I would like less from how the inside office is and so on. So I would first like to find if there is any other solution.

One thing I put today on my wall is text of paper "I am not earning more than I am worth so I can be calm".

I am considering - maybe just ask them - are you happy with my skill/salary? If they say no - then just find a new job.
But I am not sure if that is good to ask now, because I am planning to ask for a raise. Then again I will have to ask - are you now still happy?

I do not want to go to job when they will look at me like robber who takes more than it belongs to him. I want both sides - me and them be happy about our contract.

One thing only - my boss said when that other guy asked question to check my skill - don't worry, you will not be fired if you will not answer but he was kind of laughing. But I have heard from him also lot of sh** words about bad workers.

And also - maybe there will be in every job such people who will try to make you feel that you are too bad? And so I think the changing job might not solve the problem.

One positive thing which makes me believe that they still think about me good is that some other worker from another team in our workplace said that heard that I work well. From her voice it really did not look like a lie. But this was like year ago and maybe things change.

Venting often times helps when you have bottled up feelings inside. I am glad this helped you :)\
Be sure to keep it in mind next time.

I did experience difficulties in my life, but they could not be comparable to yours. Your story is very unique. I can't imagine how I could take it or would be if I were in your situation.

I hope you feel better after telling us here about what you had to go through in your life because you could get something off your chest more or less.

I don't know what to say. I would like to share the following links with you:

https://cellebratelife.wordpress.com/20 ... rom-god-2/

I experienced many times when I felt weak, I asked God for strength; and when I felt not being smart in dealing with some issues, I asked God for wisdom, then I could solve or overcome with those problems easier. I believe I am not hallucinated. I learned that when I pray to God to grand me strength and wisdom each day before going to work, my day went smoother than I did not pray or I thought to myself that I should be smarten up to deal with problems that come up. I learned to surrender and lay my burdens to God’s feet. I know I’m weak, but He is strong.

I hope you find someone stronger than you (I believe that is God only) to be with you and can help you to take your burdens away. I hope you find peace in your heart and strength in you body.
