post therapy exercises

There seem to be some pretty effective treatments for public speaking based around NLP and hypnotic techniques. I normally use a number of the following techniques with my clients who normally have a specific public engagement/presentation in mind when they come for treatment.

Neurological level alignment
Swish pattern
Fast Phobia Cure
Anchor collapse
Future pacing with anchors
parts reframe

as well as some strong hypnotic work that includes metaphor and possibly some of the above.

I am interested to know how much emphasis to place on the client carying out exercises such as self hypnosis and future pacing prior to the engagement. As I am typing it occurs to me that the person who does not have a fear of public speaking would go through many mental rehearsals as the lack of fear allows them to concentrate on delivery, timing and other details.

So following, whatever treatment is used, what is the best advice to give to a client regaridng the time between the session and their speaking?

I find it is very important to educate people about the fact that they will still recieve a rush of adrenalin prior to getting up to speak or as they speak and to recognise this for what it is rather than a sign to panic, and think 'it hasnt worked'. I mean this in exactly the same way it is important to distinguish between a startle response to a spider and a phobic reaction.

Any thoughts on the best method for dealing with this popular fear?
