War anger? PLEASE HELP!

Postby tshere » Fri Dec 23, 2005 7:20 am

My husband served in Iraq last year for about 4 months before he was hit with shrapnel from a bomb. Ever since then he has had a terrible anger problem. Every little thing our kids say or do makes him scream at them. He also talks to me like a dog. Today he was screaming at the kids and he punched a hole in the wall. I tried to talk him into anger management or some kind of counseling. His mother and very close cousin have done the same. He left here tonight going to work but I don't think he went. He said he's tired of everyone telling him that he needs help. He said he's not coming back here. He has a 4 month old son, a 4 year old daughter, and a 6 year old son. What can I do to convince him that he has to get help? :( :(

*Hugs* I'm sorry to hear that. The military and war has a way of changing people's views of the world. Right now his isn't working. Ask him to remember a time when life was happy and beautiful*. ask him if he'd like his life more like that again. If he continues to stay and be angry you have some tough decisions ahead.

* do not use the words "try" or "can you" or anything else that leaves room for the possibility of NOT remembering beauty and happiness.

you get the point of this right?
