I'm currently finishing up my program (MFT) and doing face to face hours at a highschool. One of the students I'm seeing is having a hard time opening up, but really responds when he talks about videogames.
I also play video games.
So I asked my supervisor if I could bring my Nintendo Switch to play with him at the end of a session. She liked the idea, saying it shows my dedication and how well I know my people, however, wanted to know the therapeutic purpose of it. I know gaming with him will build his trust / rapport but also is there any way to state that it can help his depression?
