I mean, a drug is a drug - i have a medicine cabinet full of xanex but , that is a pill. options are welcome and the second post, to clarify , feeling the emotions as I have them without worrying abou...

Extreme panic for no real reason-how to overcome ?

Insight - I've been training bjj (brazilian Jiu Jitsu) for a number of years. I've also competed in several events previously. this week, we had a belt promotion which only happens once a year. Going into this event, I already knew I wasnt going to get anything, because my coach told me in so many w...

Re: Children having Tantrums

thank you for that.

Ive encountered a situation where a small kid (under 7) screams panics and enters rage when hes told to do something he doesnt want to do. Even the rare occasion that the parents spank him, he'll hit them back...and when he's angry he'll ball his fist and hit them when hes angry.

Children having Tantrums

I was told children (defined as kids under the age of 12) that have emotional meltdowns or tantrums are because their emotional needs are being neglected by the parent. I can not find a source on that, has anyone read or have any information regarding that ? I understand some children have ADHD, Anx...

Re: My friend thinks he's Jesus

I see exactly what you mean . i face time him here and there but the best course of action is to restrict him from talking to me about him being God's son and World war 3. i'm not in a position to drive out to make anything happen so i can just protect myself from all that

Re: My friend thinks he's Jesus

To If he is having a mental break down me telling him 'you are not Jesus' wouldnt work out..or should i challenge it? All I really want to do is bring my friend back to his senses Let’s say instead of Jesus he believes he is a horse. Or maybe he believes that he is Princess Jasmine. It is not your ...

Re: My friend thinks he's Jesus

It sounds like he's having a psychotic episode and will need help. You won't be able to rationalise this out whilst he is unwell. I would encourage him to see his doctor. I will talk to him about that when im in touch with him. He is completely in the frame of mind that he is actually Jesus Christ ...

My friend thinks he's Jesus

To make a long story short a friend of mine has gone through some terribly tough times. His marriage fell apart and he was evicted right before christmas. Within days of that he texts me that 'I need to search my feelings and I would know that he is the second coming of Christ". He lives out of...

Re: how do I Redefine things that are triggers?

you are correct on a number of levels. 1) interestingly enough you mention military service. I am a veteran with a rating at the va based on trauma. I've also been involved in combat sports and in both areas the behavior and attitudes that I'm looking to work on were not only encouraged but rewarded...

how do I Redefine things that are triggers?

I saw my therapist yesterday and we had a long talk about my angry outbursts and violent responses. When I was a small kid, i was verbally / mentally abused by my parent (as well as physically beat up by her boyfriends which was allowed) , constantly called terms such as 'sissy, punk, 'p*ssy and tol...

no confidence in competing

Growing up my parent tore me down emotionally and mentally. I was called a sissy or a punk, little bitch or what not. It even got to the point that my 'parent' would wish i would be beaten up by people in the neighborhood for their satisfaction. This went on for years Now I have been in martial arts...
