Is it ok not to give copyrighted product to your friend?

I remembered a situation when I lost my internet friend who was friend for few years after I did not share to him the content which I paid for.

The situation was this - I have hired a coach to teach me some things. And that coach gave me some videos and pdfs which are not for free - but they are included in the coaching package.

And that friend asked for pdfs. I really respected that coach. Plus I could not trust 100 % that somehow the coach will not find out that I shared his content to others and he might get angry and not coach me well. Yea, maybe this is small probability. But still I wanted to be good to the coach, I valued his work.

That friend was hard to talk with often because he did not like to argue and said what I think is wrong, but I did not udnerstand why it is wrong, so I blindly did not want to listen to him.

So the fact that I did not share the content alone might not be the one reason that he deleted my contacts. But it was one of the reasons.

So now what to do in same situation next time? If I share contect which is not suposed to be shared, do I again make friend angry at me and I risk losing that friend? I just bought a book from one guy who I also respect for his free contents and he asked in this book to not share with others because this is premium content. I practically bouth this book to support him. And if I share this book - I do the opposite - especially if my friend shares to his friends, those friends to more friends, and some of them share publicly on the internet.

As discussed in another topic and the argument was that bill gates is billiionaire and for him does not matter - this book author is far from being billionaire, maybe he does not have even a million.
