Computer/Reading Stress & Headache?

Postby tgreen » Fri Aug 29, 2014 6:53 pm

I've had this problem ever since I could remember. I'm an entrepreneur, and my job consists on working on a computer for 8-10 hours a day. However, whenever I'm on the computer for more than 3 hours, I naturally get a headache. The best way I could describe this headache is like the feeling you get when your exam is tomorrow and you have 20 sets of slide to read for the first time. It seems like the only way I could get rid of this feeling is through walking and talking to other people (even reading a novel wouldn't help). But even after I've done walking/talking and got rid of the headache, it returns when I return back to reading/ the computer.

Sometimes it doesn't even have to be work - I could watch tv all day and sometimes get a similar feeling.

I've lost lots of productivity because of this, and while I've tried to 'push through', I haven't been able to do so in a productive manner. Is this common? How do I fix this?

1- get an eye exam

2- get a glare screen/protector

3- set an alarm clock, take 10 minute break every hour to relax your eyes.

4- use word dictation and/or programs to dictate emails and/or listen to emails and other documents.

5- use iOS to get a virtual assistant to handle screen intensive tasks.

6- print out documents.

Basically, use whatever strategies available to reduce screen time...

@Richard

I've gotten an eye exam, and I doubt it's a physiological issue. I could read a book with large print and feel the same way, but not walking outside when it's really bright with no sunglasses.

May I ask you some questions

Are you eating the right amount of a healthy diet? (no junk)
Are you drinking the right amount of healthy drinks? (no alcohol, caffeine or fizzy)
Are you taking the right amount of healthy exercise?
Are you getting a good balance between work, rest and play?
Are you grateful to the people who make your life more comfortable?
Are you looking after your personal appearance and your living environment?
Are you choosing positive and optimistic thought patterns?
Are you able to forgive past hurts?
Are you able to masturbate to relieve tension?
Are you able to trust your intuition?
Are you contributing to your local community?
