I run an anger managment company (not sure i should post the name of it here without asking an administrator) and am always saddened by the turmoil that some of the people posting here are going through. up until three years ago i was one of the angriest men on the planet, i often used to stare at people for a reaction. I would shout and scream at my wife, children or anyone else that got in the way of getting my needs met. i am amazed that my family stuck with me through years of torment.
However three years ago this all changed, i attended an anger managment course, i did'nt want to go it's just that everyone around me said i needed it (not the right reason for attending i know). i have to say three years on and my life has totally changed, sure i still get angry occasionally but i am able to manage it now. i read that a couple of people have attended courses run by local authorities and they were not effective. This reall saddens me, i often get people contact me or are referred who say that they have attended a programme and they now feel much worse than when they started. You simply cannot read a book on anger managment and then run a course. I would just like to say that if you find the right programme it can have such a positive effect on your life and i am living proof. i was so impressed with the changes in my life that i took a diploma course in AM.
I am more than happy to post some basic tools to help people get started on a journey of personal development if anyone thinks that would help. i must say though that anger is addictive so recovery comes from going through a process.
By the way people like me cannot cure anger we just help people to see it as a positive emotion rather than a negative one, depending on how you use it.
