Swollen lymph nodes from paws?

Postby akidual » Thu Nov 14, 2019 8:39 pm

Quick background: Smoked since beginning of 2017. Just medical herb until december 2017 and started medical disposable cartridges since it was easier. Deciding to quit September 22, 2019 and now it's been about 52 days sober. From reading the posts on here I definitely think I'm suffering from paws since I've had the pretty common symptoms. But I'm really freaking out about one specific physical symptom that's been ongoing: swollen lymph nodes. Please help has anybody else had swollen lymph nodes as a symptom from quiting? And before anybody mentions the doctor, I went in October and had a full bloodwork done and a ct scan and everything came back normal. I haven't had any luck finding information about swollen lymph after quiting, so please if there's anybody out there that can help out please I'd really appreciate it, because doctor google keeps making me think I'm dying and I've been having panic attacks about it everyday. Thank you.

Hi @Akidual,

I feel like this thread you started is made for me. I havent heard of anyone else that gets swollen lymph nodes from PAWS except me. Just look through my thread (80 Days clean of weed), I mention it in almost every post I make.

Like you, I only got this problem after using cartridges. When I smoked only herb and stopped smoking, I got milder paws symptoms but never had swollen lymph nodes. I used a lot of cartridges the last 2 years I smoked, and now swolen lymph nodes are my most persistent symptom.

basically, I am at 9 months clean and I have had swollen lymph nodes since the first month. Its really, really frustrating and feels like I am getting sick. I did get sick once while I was going through PAWS and my lymph nodes felt TERRIBLE, extra swollen.

I have not seen anyone else complain about it, but I am 100% certain it is from PAWS. It started along with other PAWS symptoms when I quit weed, and the severity of the swelling goes up and down along with my other PAWS symptoms.

It really is the symptom that I feel the most, oddly enough. Im at 9 months and have had a few days where I was virtually symptom free; but even on those days I still feel very slight swollen lymph nodes (my only symptom those days).

You certainly have helped me out now that I know someone else suffers from PAWS related swollen lymph nodes.

@SparkleFly12
Thank you for replying.
I'm sorry to hear that you have been suffering from this symptom as well and for this long. It really can be exhausting. One day I'll tell myself it's okay and it's just paws and then most I wake up depressed and anxious and think I'm dying from cancer.
At first they showed up in my stomach before I started to quit. That's what prompted me to go to the doctor and at first i felt better after my results came back clear. But then pea sized ones came up on my left and right neck by the collarbone. And the worst one on the back of my left side neck by my ear. That one along with the stomach ones flare up at the end of the day and do also swell up when my other symptoms get worse. It's getting to the point where I don't want to shower because I can feel them as I wash myself and I automatically get triggered and once again think I'm going to die from cancer. The left side of my neck, shoulder, and collarbone hurts and I cant tell if its muscle pain or the nodes and my stomach hurts from time to time where they are swollen also especially after eating. It's demoralizing. I'm so mad at myself for doing this to myself and I'm mad that I can't find anything or anyone who has this problem other than google saying I have lymphoma, which makes my anxiety even worse.

I went to the doctor when I quit herb (not cartridges) because I got really bad sinus pressure. they did a MRI and found nothing wrong with me. This sort of pressure in the lymph nodes feels the same as the pressure in my sinuses, and I havent gone to the doctor about it. In general, I found that doctors really dont know anything about weed withdrawal or PAWS from weed; probably due to its illegal status and because it is a harmless drug if you dont abuse it. Itll be a while before the medical community catches up to reality when it comes to weed.

Just like you mentioned, it seems to get a lot worse at the end of the day compared to when I wake up.

Lymphoma has a ton of other side effects; and they are waaay worse than PAWS. I dont really worry about that at all; although its been a couple years since I went to a doctor (im in my 30s and healthy other than PAWS).

I also get muscle soreness as one of my PAWS symptoms, and pressure in my temple; combined with the pressure in the lymph nodes it really feels like I get ear pressure too. Ive even had tinitus a few days over the past few months; which is another common PAWS symptom.

It does suck but I just think of it as punishment for smoking so much weed/carts...its a life lesson; no drug is without consequences. Ive gotten used to it now and it has gotten better over time. Hang in there, time is the only cure it seems.

I had swollen lymph nodes for a few months, went away last year. I'm 22 months sober. The swollen lymph nodes were in my neck and I could palpate them.

My lymph nodes under my jaw were very tender and could be painful. Theyve only recently (last few weeks) started to feel slightly better, and much better now. 10 months since I last smoked.

Have any of you actually seen a doctor to check this out or is the forum and self validation enough? Get yourself checked if you haven't already... Lymph nodes are there to indicate something causing them to swell that probably isn't PAWS.

@tokeless the swelling of my lymph nodes started with paws; and changes in intensity with all my other paws symptoms. Im 95% sure they are paws related. At 10 months off weed now and they have been getting better each month; exactly as have my other symptoms.

I have not seen a doctor though, no. I did a while ago regarding my headache (from paws) but they just did a mri, and cleared me of everything. I stopped asking questions when I realized it was from weed withdrawal.

I went to the doctor and they told me it was from stress and anxiety and to go back if it persisted. Didn't persist, happened on and off, last time it happened was over a year ago.

@akidual I'm only 3 weeks off it but today I noticed my neck felt tight. When I touched over by my ear my lymph nodes are swollen in front of the earlobe and under it. It's a little painful too even without touching it. Of course I googled swollen lymph nodes and got the results of lymphoma and now I'm here panicking thinking that I'm going to die of cancer. It's Saturday night so none of the walk-in clinics are open and I don't want to go to emergency. But your question was did anyone else experience swollen lymph nodes. I'm hoping that that's what's causing mine. I feel a little better seeing that other people are experiencing the same thing so that helps. But I guess the next thing in order is to see my doctor and get some blood work done. It's going to be a long day tomorrow waiting for Monday to come.
