Work problems

Postby Love » Mon Mar 28, 2016 8:47 pm

I am frustrated at work. When I first started my job my boss put me in for supervisor position. His boss said that I was too new (i was less than 30 days) and to give me a chance to see how I work. So after months and months and months of work, being the hiring decision for some excellent employees. I was not selected for the position. My boss hired this lady that just started working and happens to be pretty also the same ethnicity as him. She has been working for 2 months when she was hired as supervisor.

From when i started working my boss has had a problem with people of spanish decent. I do not look like my ethnicity and i told him that i am also of spanish decent and i suspect that is when things have changes for my chances of being supervisor. We have had a huge turnover of people from spanish workers.

My boss frequently tells me your a supervisor material and that all the work i am doing is making him look good while his supervisor is sitting there looking pretry. He frequently makes comments about spanish people. I am frustrated

Assuming you are correct, you will not be made a supervisor. Therefore find another employment opportunity.

I'm not saying you are correct. You are operating from assumptions. It could be you were not made supervisor for other reasons. Regardless, you were passed over for promotion and understandably that hurts. I have been rejected for a job before based on my race, I have been passed over for promotions because of internal politics or for this or that reason. Yep, it hurts...

So what are you going to do about it? You don't waste your time pounding your head against a wall. You move forward and find a way around the issue. This means applying for transfers, making yourself more valuable by taking courses, or you go work somewhere else.

If you're this unhappy then sit down with your boss and ask for an official appraisal and that you feel ready for a promotion and if he says no tell him you will be looking for another job.
If you are as good as he says you are then he won't want to lose you.

Stop thinking about that and just focus on your work and see where you could progress to. Since he likes you, maybe try to talk to him personally of what you desire. If he truly sees potential in you, he will do what is best for the company.

the most important thing in working is-Do you love your work?
Because if you love your work there's no need to impress other people, they can see it in you.

And don't be frustrated-patient is a virtue.
