The Learning Path - Some concerns about going off meds

Postby tasha » Mon Jul 05, 2004 2:15 am

I recently weaned off of Serzone and Wellbutrin after being on a variety of antidepressants for 8 years. After reading The Learning Path I have a few concerns - mainly the long term effects of antidepressants, referred to in this excerpt:

Prolonged use of depression medication has been shown to cause permanent physical changes to the brain's receptors, sometimes resulting in serious long term problems. Often associated with multiple medication, seratonergic syndrome is a neurological condition which results in fevers, seizures and heart rhythm disturbances.

Comments? I am going through withdrawal now and I am quite concerned. How do I know what is withdrawal (ie. vertigo, heart palpitations, dizziness, confusion) and what is permanent damage?

HI tasha

If you are concerned about this, you should see your doctor. I personally do not know how you tell the difference, but others here might? Any takers?
