Excessive Gas Causing Anxiety and panic attack

Postby bhaskor88 » Sat Apr 22, 2017 5:19 am

Hi all,

I want to share my experience with anxiety and gas. I have been suffering from acidity for a very long period. The stomach acid use to flow back to my mouth and cause burning feeling with sour taste. Nowadays a small part of whatever i eat or drink returns back to my mouth. It seems that food can easily return back to my mouth these days.

Just a week earlier I was feeling hungry and so I had some cornflakes with milk. After sometime the milk started returning back to my mouth (something like curd having bitter taste). Suddenly I was feeling boating an too much gas. After some time the gas made it difficult for me to breadth. My whole body became warm and suddenly my heart started pounding and i felt like i am going to die. I feel like i want to run away somewhere    .

This all repeated yesterday, as after dinner i drink a glass of "Trifala" and tried to sleep. After sometime i felt boating and the same symptoms returned, short breath, tight stomach, sudden warmth, pounding heart. I took a Zaptra LS 12.5 tablet after that.

From my experience i am sure now that i am normal when i don't feel gas, but when i feel gassy or boated my anxiety strikes. Is this dangerous and life threatening.

At last, sorry for my bad English. Also, please help me to overcome this issue.

Thank You all for your advise and support in advance.

I can't heel you but I can help you. You are spot on with my symptoms. I have dealt with these on and off for 25 years. I am 50 years old now. Ironically my grandfather + brother and sister have the same issue.

Go to the store and purchase a $1 box of arm and hammer baking soda.

Mix 1/2 tea spoon of baking soda in a half cutp of water.

Sip it n this when you get the anxiety and or bloated feeling. This neutralizes the acid in your stomach. It will also cause you to easily burp.

You will be feeling relief in 10 minutes. Especially helpful at night before I go to bed. That panicked awakening from acid and bloat is like getting sucker punched in the stomach.... gasping for air

Google baking soda and stomach acid. They have lots of good info to explain why this works.

I also began taking magnesium tablets $5 for 200 count from your local store.

I take 1 each morning. This also reduces anxiety. Again you can google magnesium and anxiety to learn more about the effect of magnesium deficiency that can cause anxiety.

Have a great day.

I hope replying ayear later will be successful. I have had this revalation a few years ago. I was waking with panic attacks and thought they were heart attacks. Called 911 a few times because it was so real. Never realized it was a panic attack. SO a few years go by, the attacks are less frequent. One night I realize I can feel the stool moving in my lower tract, maybe even into my rectum. And slowly I recognize the sensation of a panic attack. Now I realize the way I’ve written this makes it sound like I was panicking about the BM, but, no. I realized that the full bowel was causing the panic. Now, I don’t have a panic attack every time I have a BM but often when I am lying down. Then I realized I could tell the gas or bloating that was occurring Just before the panic. It was as if the anxiety was a physical symptom, but I couldn’t stop it by recognizing it. What did help? GasX, digestion pills, peppermints, and... the tinest amount of Xanax. I still get the feeling, and as my digestion has become worse, my response to the CasX and digestive aids is weakening. The gas and anxiety are winning. My main reason for writing is to thank you for posting about the gas coming first and the anxiety second. But, now, what do you do? Tonight I felt like the heart attack sensation a little and took GasX etc. I’m burping but not 100%better. Help

I really don't want to scare you and it is VERY VERY UNLIKELY your case, but it sounds a lot like what my dad had, which was an esophageal tumor. Which is very easily cured. Please get to a doctor if you can. If you can't afford one, you can set up a payment plan. Sign up for insurance or heck, set up a GoFundMe if you have to. I don't want anyone to feel like my dad did.

Are you replying to me - Crystal74 -- or the original poster?
I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy two and a half years ago and got an all clear. Don't have to have one for ten years.
I am so sorry about your Dad. If you are talking about me, which of my symptoms most connected with your Dad's ?
