Hello! (: I am a student doing a project on children with lisps and I have some questions to ask. It'll be really wonderful if you can help and it will really mean a lot to me as it will benefit these children!
1. Do children with lisps have difficulty pronouncing only sibilant sounds? (Are sibilant sounds the main/ only problem they face?)
2. Do children with lisps feel less confident speaking? If yes, why? (Is this attributed to inability to pronounce sibilant sounds?)
3. Does the therapy involve building confidence or is it just focused on articulation?
a)If building the child’s confidence is involved in the therapy, what are the methods you use?
4. What is the most common age group when children develop lisps?
a) Does the difference in cultural background affect the age group? (e.g. geographical reasons)
b) Are different methods of speech therapy employed for children in different age groups?
c) If different methods are used, what is the most effective method used for (the aforementioned age group)? Why/ why not the others?
d) Are different methods employed for different genders?
Thank you for taking time to read through all the questions! It really means the world to me if you can help me out (:
