afraid to answer the phone

Postby unknown-user » Mon Apr 09, 2018 4:00 pm

I don't know why but I hate answering my phone.. I start to get anxious if my phone goes off.. even if it's family members or friends. I get more anxious if it's unknown numbers or high status like education or work.

I know I'm not the only person to have this but is there a reason for it?

Lack of experience.

We fear the unknown. If you routinely participated in social dialogue you would not fear social dialogue. If you routinely answered 30 calls a day, you would not fear answering calls.

You are not alone, because a curse of technology is digital isolation. We text instead of talk. This inevitably makes people less comfortable talking.

Based on your other thread your fears can be traced back to isolating yourself. This is a growing issue in societies where technology and the current standard of living does not require social engagement.

We can blame society, we can blame parents, schools, technology, but it doesn’t help the individual that has come to isolate themselves, living out a digital existence, scared to navigate the real world.
