I would ask yourself if it affects your sleep or other parts of your life a negative way. If not then IMO I'd say that it is ok.

Hey James -

Below are the three most common components that I see with late night eating/snacking.

#1. Eating During the Day - Because of your body's survival mechanisms, IF you did not eat consistently throughout the day (every 3-4 hours, with enough substance) than your body will induce a seemingly insatiable hunger at night, no matter how big your dinner was. Start eating more, more consistently throughout your day by packing a bag of food to take with you.

#2. Dehydration - I know, I know. Everyone says drink a ton of water, but one of the first signs of dehydration is HUNGER, believe it or not. In the olden days hunger was one of the ways we get moisture (through fresh food). Drink water, or one of my favorite past times at night - herbal tea. Good Earth is my favorite!

#3. Stress - many of us are not aware of it, but night time can kind of be rough. Our worries, doubts, and insecurities come up that can be difficult to handle if we were never taught how to. I read inspirational stories/books before bed, write what I am grateful for, etc. Sometimes our hunger is really just a feeling of void that needs to be replaced with substance of some kind.

Hope the above helps!

You can try more high fibre foods at meal times they keep you feeling more full and thus the need to snack should go down. There is a link between zinc hunger and eating disorders. You can try zinc tally for free to see if zinc is a problem. Seretonin is also an issue in eating disorders. AS is leptin the hunger hormone, so much that some folk say with inflammatory gut problems the leptin doesnt kick in thus you never get full and pig out.

So I don' t think it is a disorder. I think you should eat something light or something small, so you don't put extra pounds on you, like it happened with me :)

I agree with Sekme1!
Same for me, if I'm hungry my stomach wakes me up and only after I gave it something I can sleep soundly. And, yes, choosing a healthy alternative as snack will definitely help you sleeping better. In fact, when I used to eat sugary stuff before going to bed, my body couldnt relax at all!

Late night eating is consider bad for health. It is cause of fat and other hidden diseases. If you need to eat then chose all the foods which are less fat, healthy, energetic, help in proper sleep. You should eat lite and in little amount. It is good for you. Most simple and full of energy foods that you should need to eat that are fruits.

Feeling to eat late nights is a kind of disorder. Sometimes we feel hungry even when we have our dinner not long before 2 hours.

So, what you can do is chart out the low calorie diet like

Fibre biscuts
Oats
Muesli
Corn Flakes etc

as your late night snacks. Make sure you only have them if you feel hungry late nights. Slowly this habit will recede and you will be fine.

Yes, Eating late night is an eating disorder. I can cause various health complications. It may affect your stomach health, gain you weight, and disturb your blood pressure. Avoid late night dinner. Eat at least two hours before going to sleep.

Solution: Eat fruits and vegetables at night when you're hungry. It's healthy, much better, and you digest fruits and veggies quicker.

You should adopt the habit of doing exercises and workouts, so your body demands what it needs on time. Eating late at night can be dangerous to health as we go to sleep as we eat some times, in that case our digestive system does not work properly and we do not feel good. We should always eat on time so we can enjoy good sleep.

Eating a small healthy snack at night is fine in my view especially if it's a couple of hours after eating a bigger meal
