Re: Anxiety and Eating

So when do you not get anxious around eating? And when did the anxiety around eating start and was there anything happening in your life that you might connect to the anxiety? Also when exactly is the anxiety triggered at the moment? Is it the point when you start thinking about eating or when you s...

Re: parents triggering old eating disorder

This may be an obvious question; Have you communicated to your parents exactly how you feel when they say and do these things that upset you? It's important to tell them in a way that isn't confrontational, not so easy I realise. Giving specific examples of what they say that upsets you is important...

Re: Green tea

I definitely find Green tea really helps me feel more peaceful and relaxed, and helps with general anxiety on a subtle level. I drink about 3 cups a day regularly. The odd cup is unlikely to have much affect though.

Re: Swallowing and breathing issues

Hi As a Hypnotherapist and NLP Coach I would definitely recommend practising regular relaxation techniques. As you mentioned in one of your posts, your symptoms subside when you are relaxed. Try a few different techniques involving breathing and clenching/unclenching your body until you find one tha...

Re: Is anxiety physical?

Hi Alex, well as a NLP Practitioner and Hypnotherapist it's strange to hear that one would even question whether anxiety exists as both a physical and emotional experience. I would venture to say that in any emotional state there will always be some kind of physical experience as well, even if it mi...

Re: Worried about a friend

I have recovered from my eating disorder. I am quite young and feel I will be around the same age as you and your friend, it was such a hard time for me because I was constantly worried that I was going to get fat, I didn't realise how stupid I was being, I was below 6 stone at my worst and now I'm...

Re: OCD and being sick

Hi Kate Like Alex has said in his reply, it's very common with any form of anxiety, to get attached to the anxiety and focus on it. This is because you have such a strong natural desire not to be anxious which is understandable! Unfortunately as I'm sure you have experienced, this often makes the an...

Re: My anger is out of my control

Hi there Sorry to hear about your anger and how it's causing you so much distress. Regularly practising relaxation techniques and breathing techniques (when you are not angry) is a very good way of managing your emotions when you do start to feel the anger coming on. Try a couple of different techni...

Re: Public Speaking Embarassment

Ah as a Hypnotherapist I can say with certainty that hypnotherapy for any phobia including a fear of public speaking has a very good success rate. Put simply a phobia or fear of a specific situation or object is created through conditioning, association and repetition of something which causes anxie...

Sorry to hear about your anxiety around being in a relationship and yes I would have thought it stems from a fear of some kind probably related to your past in some way. I'm sure there is a good intention behind the fear that is keeping you safe rather than risk getting hurt. Being young you are muc...

I would suggest downloading one of the relaxation tracks from this site and using it regularly. Or finding a breathing or self imagery technique you can learn and practise. Once you start to learn to bring about an inner calm, even for just 10 minutes a day, this will allow your body and mind to hea...
