What are the different types of psychology

I’m sure there are others.

What do you want to accomplish by studying psychology? The answer will help you decide what direction to take.

It’s more of finding one that suits my learning style...which I think is more logical than social.

I don’t need the sh*ty comments I just find it stupid to have to look at 5-10 websites on each subject of psychology just to find a form of psychology to study out of interest from home and didn’t want to buy books on the subjects I’m not interested in, that suits my brain type and interests.

So instead, your “smart” rather than “stupid” alternative to the above was to just visit one website, believing that strangers in an anonymous forum would use the expertise that you assume they have to create a summary for you. That doesn’t strike you as a stupid way to acquire knowledge?

I guess not. For some types of knowledge, especially preliminary collection of data, crowd sourcing can be very effective. It is not a bad idea to go into a forum on Seattle and ask, “Where is a good place to live in Seattle?”

That is pretty efficient. You might get multiple answers from individuals that can provide you their personal insights into various areas of Seattle. That would be a smart way to find out where you might want to live in Seattle.

But, if you were to go into the forum and say, “Could someone give me a list of all the neighborhoods in Seattle and explain each of them for me,” that would be a rather ignorant approach. A person could be an expert in Seattle, having lived in Seattle for decades and their opinion on each neighborhood would be of little use outside of the areas they had actually lived.

As an educational psychologist I’m always fascinated by how people learn and the ways they believe “smart” or “stupid” in acquiring knowledge. That you believe outsourcing labor or crowd sourcing knowledge is efficient, I understand. That you believe it efficient in this situation, I think you might want to reconsider.

It took me four minutes (using Firefox as my browser) to highlight/right click on each of the terms listed by Richard, click on "Search Google for "nnnnn"", add (a copy/paste) "psychology" to each of those search terms and hit enter.

At the the top in most cases, and near the top otherwise, one can glean what each topic is about.

Amazing, this internet stuff.
