Learning essays

Postby Christine132456 » Mon Feb 01, 2016 6:11 pm

Hi, I'm doing my GCSEs at the moment. Unfortunately for my German GCSE I have to memorise an essay about 300 words then speak it to the teacher. However I'm soooo bad at memorising stuff and it takes me forever, so I wondered if anyone had any tips on how to memorise an essay?! Thanks.

Hmmm, well... try to understand it first. When i for example study biology ( memorizing is everything here) ive realized that when I dont understand it, i cant memorize a single sentence. Some people can but theyre just retelling without learning. So... understand the essay, get its meaning and memorize that meaning first. Then youll see that its not that hard
Hope it helps

One way to succeed is to expect to succeed.

So you might want to reframe this in your mind! For example, maybe, just maybe, you're good at memorizing things once you understand them.

Or perhaps it simply takes you a bit longer than you think it "should" take.
