Happy inside AND Out

Postby Danacovert82 » Fri Apr 03, 2015 1:21 am

Hey, guys. As you've read by now, I want to be happy for real and not just wearing it as a mask. I feel like when I get happy I have the balloon popped. How do I stay happy for longer than a moment?3

What makes you happy about listening to music? What are you doing with friends or family that make you happy? What doesn't make you happy?

You shared that your happiness is either not real at times or doesnt last. Can you give examples of this?

Basically I like singing the songs I know. I say it doesn't last cause I get happy and then a moment later I just get talked to about something I already know. No examples needed there.

There's also the issue of happy versus joyful or excited. Joy and excitement are very fleeting emotions that last only a short time, happiness is more like contentment, it's an underlying appreciation for the life you have. If you appreciate the life you lead you are happy, otherwise you are on the journey to happiness and only the belief that you are or will be happy will keep you moving forward.

The more you care whether the happiness can last, the shorter time it would last for. When you are doing something that you enjoy, just focus on it instead of worrying about if the happiness can last. Maybe think in this way, even you really can't stay happy for long, but so what? You can always feel happy again and this is much more important.

Happiness generated from the outside environment can't last. Because they are out of your control. Only happiness from inside, like being happy with yourself, satisfied with your life can last. So make sure your happiness does not depend on the external environment, but on you.

I would agree with the suggestions above. Try to find out what makes you truly happy or unhappy.

Good luck.
