Anxiety is an emotional response that lets us know there's a loss or a threat of loss (real or imagines). It's our body's defense against getting in trouble.

PTSD is the condition of having gone through a severely traumatic incident (huge loss) and when this happens the amygdala, fear center of the brain though it has other functions, increases in size. In other words, someone who has PTSD has undergone such a serious event that it actually changes their personality by making them more neurotic.
