Drug Abuse and anger

Postby Paul L. James » Wed Nov 16, 2005 5:15 pm

I took a overdose of herbs and spent thirteen days in a psyche ward getting them out of my system But I seem to be getting paranoid with my mental health state. I seem to get angry at my family because of the stress they give me. Can one think to much and become paraniod with there mental state? pljames

I really don't know what would help. How did you overdose? Purposely?

I suppose you overdosed on recreational drugs, possibly marijuana.

Feeling paranoid has both a psychological component (due to a low self-image perhaps) and a biological component.

The latter needs to be treated first before considering psychotherapy.

Most drug users have been found to be hypoglycemic. This indicates that they may have a problem converting glucose into biological energy called ATP.
This energy is required to manufacture the feel good and relaxing hormones such as serotonin.

See:

Biological Energy Required in Serotonin Production - SAM-e

When a person gets off drugs, the biological abnormality that caused them to use drugs to self-medicate, may come to the surface with a vengeance.

The hypoglycemic condition can be tested with a four hour Medical Test for Hypoglycemia. and the treatment is going on a Hypoglycemic Diet

After treatment of the biological aspect the person could possibly benefit from a course in psychotherapy..
