Postby theboydonut » Mon Jul 05, 2004 11:53 am

hi

does anyone get panic attacks after exercise? thats when mine first started happening which gave me even more reason to think i had something wrong with my heart!

Its annoying when u read stuff that recommends exercise for anexity when it seems to make me ten times worse than when i started!

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

 Hi

There are 2 main reasons for having panic attacks during exercise.

That for what ever reason, the body is under pressure physically, could be a virus, bio-chemical or problems from long term stress etc. So when the heart rate goes up too much the body goes into high alert!!

Then once you have had a panic attack in a particular place it is much more likely for it to happen again when in the same situation. The original presenting problem may have gone but the mind then forms a habit.

So if it is the latter, just find a time when you can relax and imagine going through the exercise and feeling calm and enjoying it, recall memories of how good it used to be , then get a glimpse of what it would be like when you can enjoy it in the same way again.

Happy keeping fit!!!!
