Hi to all.

Hi. :) I have been enjoying this new forum and thought I'd say hi. Some of you might remember me from this years dip course, I could only manage the course up to march, but hope to start again this Jan.
Just wondering if anyony can help me with my son's migraine  . He is 12 and has been having them for about a year, he gets two or three a month, with 1 every two months being a severe headache, nausea and vomiting. I am hoping to try some relaxation and story. Any advice gratfully received.

Hello Yvonne!!!

How are you doing - we all miss you on the diploma!!

With regards to his headache - perhaps when he's in trance suggest that there's a start, middle and end to it. The part of the unconscious mind that ends the headache can slowly come forward, reducing it. It's in In Search of Solutions if you still have it.

Any other ideas?

Andy.

PS. It's so good to hear from you again. Good luck with the Dipoma next year.

Hello Yvonne: I am new to the forum, but wanted to drop by and tell you hello, and welcome back.

All I know about migraines is that they hurt like heck - I hope your son finds something that will relieve his headache pain soon.

Best regards, Peanut

Hi Yvonne

Did you learn the VK technique? If so, you could try applying it to times when your son has had the migraines.

You could also teach self hypnosis to alter blood flow by imagining warming his hands on an open fire. I read somewhere that this helps release some of the pressure in the head.

Hope this helps,
Joe

Hi Yvonne, Just a note to suggest you might try having your son place a cold ice pack on the back of his neck when he has a migraine. It seems that it is now believed that people who suffer from migraines experience vasodilation (expansion of the blood vessels) supplying the brain. Ice causes vasoconstriction (constriction of the blood vessels) thus slowing down the amount of blood. It is worth a try. Also, I don't know much about them but there are some new medications available which are suppose to be very effective for treating migranes. Wishing you and your son the best, Vickie

Hello Yvonne.

Yes, the final exam is tomorrow!! And while doing a spot of revision I stumbled across a handout that you might find useful - 'Principles of Hypnotic Pain Control.' It was given in one of the first weekends so you should have it..

Thought I'd let you know before it slipped my mind, now I'll get back to studying...

Andy.
