Hi Bluesky. I am in pretty much the same situation that you are. I'm having trouble with my self-confidence as well as the anxiety. Hopefully it will work out for both of us. :)

Thank you for this thread - it is excellent! I have been experiencing a 'choking = chicken bones caught in the throat' feeling for days, (as I work on getting my self-confidence back, etc., to, hopefully, return to work), and I'm beginning to think that it is a sign of unexpressed anger, (which has ...

This is such an important thread for me. I like the idea of 'relaxed mental rehearsal' very much. The problem that I have repeatedly is not being able to stand by while someone else is being bullied, and, of course, whenever I've tried to stick up for the bullied person, I have become the new targe...

Hi Mark: I would very much appreciate finding out where I can learn more about ways to combat 'swamping', especially after the initial panic has taken hold. I'm thinking that being able to identify potential panic 'triggers' ahead of time would be helpful, and then practice a 'relaxed response' (?)...

Hi Roger: Thank you so much for you time in replying to my post. I'm not sure what it is that caused me to become anxious while doing the exercise in the first tutorial, but since I have not completed it yet, (3 more questions to answer - spent a lot of time on the first one), I am going to give it...

Hi Mark: I think this is such an important issue, because one does not stop encountering bullies when they leave the gradeschool playground. I have encountered bullies in many so-called 'professional' forums, disguised in many different 'types' of costumes. My self-esteem is in the ____, because I ...

Anxiety from the course - EEK!

I am so appreciative of finding your on-line course re: self-confidence. The problem is that I've just gone thru the 1st tutorial, and I am feeling very anxious now. I'm hoping that this doesn't mean that I'm 'not ready', because I really do need to get 'on with things.' I don't intend to quit, but ...

It's doubtful that your client will believe that the following could happen to him/her but the facts are these: I worked 70 hours a week for years thinking I was the only one that could 'get it done'; had what used to be called a 'breakdown' (because everything was so unbalanced for so long; and en...

Question re: 'Project YOU Goal Setting Process'

Dear Ms. Swinton: I am enjoying reading your posts very much. In one of them, you mentioned the above-referenced goal setting process. Would you share more information about this. I am considering a change of career, (in mid-life), as well as coming out of a year of (not sure what to call it), and ...

Thanks Mark for the reply. I whole-heartedly agree about the prevalence of 'bullying' in the helping professions, and it never fails to come as a shock. Kathleen - you ask a great question. What I've begun to figure out, is that the goal, (however one gets there), is to be able to tolerate the fric...
