PROCRASTINATION

Postby GreenLobster » Sat Dec 07, 2019 9:42 pm

Hi.
I, like many others, procrastinate.
I lack motivation.
I lie to myself about doing things.
I hate it.
And since it is my fault, the logic says I sould hate myself, right?
I identify as a chronic procrastnator and said procrastnation is destroying my life. I know what I want, I have hobbies and intrusts, I just don't give myself fully into it for some reason.
Instant dopamine gratification.
help me find motivation again, actually, better: motivate me and help me get out of this self-hatred downwards spiral.
please

every little step you will make today will have such a big beautiful outcome in the future. you just need to get into motion, one step at a time. with time you will come to see that you have gone a long way. Best of luck to you my friend.

LouiseHay would see it the other way round. You hate yourself therefore you sabotage your own happiness by inaction. https://www.louisehay.com/tag/how-to-love-yourself/

Actually, better? Uh...no.

It isn't the job of anyone else to motivate you. It isn't the job of society or your family or any random stranger in an online forum to provide for you.

If you want to find motivation again, stop expecting and accepting handouts from other people. Cut yourself off from those things and people that enable you.

If you want to find something, you search for it.

Apparently your current hobbies/interests are not what gets you up in the morning. Apparently you currently have enough access to food, water, electricity, and the Internet that these are not an issue. You have those basic comforts.

Motivation is not in those things that you find comfortable. My guess is that is where you spend most of your time searching. Get out of your comfort zone. As already suggested, take small steps.

My fellow programmer once told me that if you want to handle procrastination you should split the task into as many subtasks as possible. Then your brain will not find any excuses not to do the task.
