Miracle Supplement for PAWS

Postby NateTGreat » Mon May 15, 2017 4:10 pm

Hello Everyone!

It has been a while since I posted my progress. Some of you on here are familiar with my story, but for those of you who are unfamiliar, this in brief, was my struggle:

I am 39 years old and nearly 3 years clean of 20 year cannabis addiction. I was heavy into dabs, oil, hash and buds. I am also 5.5 years clean from alcohol and do not use tobacco or any pharmaceutical meds. I quit using due to the most life altering panic attacks I have ever experienced. My journey to sobriety has been the hardest thing I've had to deal with in my entire life. The first year of recovery was excruciating. I had pretty much every symptom of withdrawal, anxiety, and depression that you could imagine. After one year, things got better for me, but I was still not in a good place. Daily I had some symptom of pain, dizziness, anxiety, depression, and overall malaise. Like many, I wondered if I would ever be normal again.

Throughout my journey, I tried nearly every supplement you could imagine. I spent hundreds of dollars on amino acid therapy, 5-HTP, melatonin, L-theanine, fish oil, magnesium, taurine, and many other's I can't even remember. I just wanted to heal naturally, and I knew that getting on an anti-depressant or other pharmaceutical med would only create more problems for me in the long run. I actually tried Lexapro for 5 months last year. It was a tough decision, but I could barely drive a car due to extreme anxiety and dizziness. Eventually, I realized that the Lexapro was doing nothing to heal me, and I stopped it only to have withdrawals from that as well.

About 2 months ago, I was introduced to collagen as a supplement for healing the gut and promoting well-being. I thought I'd give it a try, as I was still not feeling clear of PAWS. What I discovered was a real game-changer. I stopped eating dairy and gluten and began a diet that repairs the gut and started taking an amazing collagen supplement. I cannot express how much better I feel. Mainly, I feel like my normal self again!

What I realized it that there is a very intimate connection between the gut and the brain. I found out that a lot of my symptoms were because of my diet and because my gut was leaking toxins into my bloodstream. I can only assume that years of cannabis abuse and the stress of withdrawing from it caused my leaky gut. Collagen is an amazing supplement that repairs the lining of the intestines. Repairing it is a long process but after taking this supplement for only a month and a few dietary adjustments, I can say that I am a new person. As anyone going through the hells of PAWS can attest, to feel 'normal' again is all we strive for.

I really wanted to share this product with you because I can only hope that it helps you as much as it has helped me. This product is of the highest quality and in a class of it's own when it comes to collagen supplements. I have attached a link that will give you $10 off a month's supply. It is $60 total. I think that it is a very small price to pay to at least give it a try. After 1 week I was already noticing consistent benefits and I think you will too. https://www.modere.com/ProductDetail/li ... ode=377818

Please message me if you have any more questions!! I hope that you can find peace on your road to recovery!

Hi Nate,
I've read a lot of your posts as I've been through it myself, thank you for coming back to update on your process
I just passed the 6 month mark quitting weed, and while I'm noticing slow improvement, I'd obviously like to recover faster
For the few months before I quit it was all dabs all day, before that, high grade for breakfast lunch and dinner
Couple questions for you: besides cutting out gluten and dairy and taking collagen, what other changes have you made that you'd recommend?
I've tried loads of supps too, and my diet is sometimes better than others. I'm into green smoothies but I've taken a break from them and need to get back in the habit
Right now meditation is my main outlet, I need to start an exercise routine but I haven't yet. I also need to lose 20 pounds of fat and gain some muscle
So what are your top recommendations for coming out of the fog? Is there a test for leaky gut to see if that's an issue?

Congrats on the 6 months, Backatit. To answer your questions, I have also been eating a lot of probiotic foods, such as raw sauerkraut, a dairy free probiotic beverage called 'GoodBelly', Kimchi, and Kombucha tea. I also have been upping my protein intake to give my body the necessary nutrients to rebalance my brain's neurotransmitters. I drink pea protein a lot and have been eating lean proteins like fish and chicken frequently. I also eat healthy fats like avocado, sardines, olive oil, coconut oil, and nuts. I have definitely seen marked improvement from eliminating dairy and gluten. It has not been an easy adjustment, but I feel so much better, so it is worth it. Like you, I try to eat a lot of greens and vegetables as well. I love fruit, but still limit it because of the high sugar content. As for exercise, I just try to play a lot of disc golf and take walks in nature. I have a 5 year old son who plays soccer, so I run around with him as well. I am just trying to stay fit and not go too crazy trying to body build or anything like that. I also practice yoga and meditate when I can.

I never was tested for leaky gut, though there are tests out there that can be done. Most mainstream medicine does not recognize leaky gut, so most doctors don't run the proper tests or even diagnose the issue. I come from a family of doctors so had the recommendation from relatives to try eliminating things from my diet and seeing if I felt better. Indeed, I did feel a whole lot better, especially after eliminating dairy. Dairy has a protein called casein in it that can damage the gut lining and cause reactions in certain individuals who's intestines may be permeable to toxins. Now that I had eliminated the problem, the next step was to repair the damage. This is where collagen comes into play. Not only does the collagen have gut healing properties, but it also contains an amino acid called glycine. Glycine enhances muscle growth by increasing levels of creatine and regulating Human Growth Hormone, a key longevity agent. Glycine detoxifies your cells and improves brain function. In addition, glycine aids digestion by enhancing hydrochloric acid production in the stomach. It acts to improve vitamin and mineral absorption and sooth the digestive tract. Glycine has also been shown in several studies to help people sleep better and improve memory. This is because glycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that calms the brain and balances your mood.

The Liquid Biocell that I use is like a fruit juice shot that I take 2oz each day. Here is the link again so you can read the ingredients: https://www.modere.com/ProductDetail/li ... ode=377818 It is loaded with antioxidants and other anti-aging nutrients as well. It certainly has been of benefit in calming me and removing the symptoms of anxiety that were still lingering. I believe whole-heartedly in the body's potential to heal itself if given the right tools. Though I can't say that collagen alone is the answer to healing PAWS, it is a huge resource that the body can use to get back in balance. And, it has truly improved my situation.

Thanks Nate! Congrats on the almost 3 years as well, it's really good that you made these changes. You could have just kept going the way things were but your life would be not nearly as good now, that's something to feel proud of. It's slow going that's for sure, but for those struggling out there, 6 months is clearly better than 4, and 4 is definitely better than 2 - just keep it up. Next stop is 8. Still a long way to go though maybe
Your post was inspiring, I'm going to put some of your suggestions into action. Question: after quitting gluten and dairy, how long would you guess that those dietary changes would make a noticeable difference if there's an issue surrounding those foods? Brain fog and lack of motivation are my current biggest challenges

Hi Akash,
I know you were writing to Nate but I would recommend meditation, have you ever tried it?
It's been my biggest support for many years, as a regular practice helps foster peace of mind, reduces stress and anxiety, and creates some distance and perspective around the million things there are to worry about
There's a spiritual saying, maybe from the Dalai Lama, not sure: If there is something difficult in your life and you can change it, then just change, and there's no need to worry. If you have a difficulty that can't be changed, there is nothing you can do – so no need to worry
It's all easier said than done. It's like when people say 'be happy' or 'be more loving'. How? This is what meditation is for

Backatit,

I have been gluten free for about 9 months. I felt lighter and more motivated after quitting gluten, but I still was having fatigue issues, dizzy spells, brain fog, headaches and anxiety. I then tried quitting all things dairy about 2 months ago and noticed a huge improvement about 2 weeks later. I actually experimented a week ago by eating a little bit of dairy and had similar symptoms of dizziness, panic, and heart palpitations. I pretty much have pegged it to casein. Like I said, after eliminating the allergen, your gut needs to repair itself. That is where I believe the collagen supplement has really helped in making me feel like myself again. I have my motivation back. I think and see the world clearly. I sleep well. And, I have no more anxiety! I believe that the stress of withdrawal really messed up my system and now it cannot handle certain foods like it used to. Maybe someday I'll be able to eat cheese and wheat bread again, but I feel so good lately, that I really don't see the need to go back.

Wow that's really something Nate
Do you still feel much better and do you think if you made those changes earlier it would have helped with your recovery symptoms?
I'm going to give it a go anyway and see if it's the same for me!

I am so glad to hear that, Paws91. I have tried about 3 different collagen supplements, and I can say that this Liquid BioCell is by far the best. https://www.modere.com/ProductDetail/li ... ode=377818

With this link, you can get $10 of a month's supply. I have now been taking the Liquid BioCell for about 3 months and I can see much improvement each day. I highly encourage anyone dealing with PAWS to give it a try. It has virtually eliminated my anxiety and depression. I am active and much more fit than I was. And the dizzy spells I used to get are a thing of the past. Peace to all!

Hey Nate,
I bought another collagen supp on Amazon to add to my green smoothies after reading your post. Why would you say this one you recommend is worth the extra cost over a regular powdered supp?
Also it says 2oz two times per day, which would make two bottles a 14 day supply, not a months, and quite steep (at $150 or so)
In what quantity do you take it?

Hi Backatit,

Those are good questions. To answer, my personal dose each day has always been only 2oz. I take a 1oz shot glass full in the morning and then in the evening. I know the recommended dose is 4oz a day, but I am also on a budget and decided to try half the amount to see if I could get an effect before going to the recommended dose. So far, I feel like I have definitely experienced an improvement in my symptoms by only taking 1/2 of the recommended dose. They even make Liquid BioCell chews for on the go.

The reason I believe this to be the best supplement I've tried is for two reasons. First off, it uses a patented formula of hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate that no other supplement uses. This formula is coupled with a blend of super fruits and resveratrol. This combination allows for increased bioavailability and provides a large amount of anti-aging antioxidants. Plus, it is the best tasting collagen I've ever tried hands down. There have also been over 30 clinical trials using this product, all of which showed positive results. The main use for this product is for improved joint function, lessened joint pain, and healthier skin. If you do the research however, there are other instances where collagen has been successful in treating depression, anxiety, and many other ailments. Here is a FAQ page that may answer any of your other questions. http://www.jusururesources.com/Business ... 20FAQs.pdf

I have tried Dr. Axe's Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth Collagen and did not like it due to the poor taste and higher price per serving. And, Ancient Nutrition collagen supplement didn't really do anything for me it seemed. I also have tried the Vital Proteins brand of collagen powder and did not like the taste either. Essentially, I think that BioCell is best mainly because at the dose I am using, it is cheaper per day than other comparable brands. And, it is so much easier to just pour a shot rather than messing around with mixing big scoops of powder that don't even taste good.

The other reason I use this brand is because it is a great company that will actually pay you to refer others to use their stuff. Part of the reason I am promoting this brand is because they give you discounts off your orders if you get others to buy. It is nice to know that the company will make it easier to achieve my health goals if I help them. This is not the only reason, obviously. I wholeheartedly believe this to be the most effective product I have tried.

NateTGreat.
Man I've been following your story and it gives me hope but at the same fear I'm just at day 21 and I know there's still a long way to go as I too was a heavy dabber and mj smoker. I had a panic attack which really changed my life and made me quit cold turkey. I guess what really freaked me out was the fact that was having crazy thoughts and was unable to control them but I have been getting better it's just seems like every day is different depending on my sleep and eating. Anxiety depression racing thoughts and bad thoughts are a common thing for me now at least weekly with some days better then some but reading all these post does give me hope for the future. I guess the only question I have is is there anything I should be doing as of now to maybe detox faster or get it out of my system naturally a little quicker. Obviously eating working out and getting plenty of sleep are in there but anything maybe others don't know about I should give a try. I have been seeing a therapist once a week and have also never been a heavy drinker or tried anything as far as hard drugs goes(acid cocaine heroine meth etc). Maybe a supplement I should try beside the collagen I have read about earlier? I have been taking xanax on days when sleep has been almost impossible but am slowing wing off then and trying to go natural. Hope to hear from you soon. All the best

Rmarbueno,

Congratulations on freeing yourself from the clutches of material substance. You have made the right choice in quitting. It will be a difficult road ahead, but you will make it through.

My recommendation is to find peace as much as you can. By this I mean, do whatever it takes to find comfort in the anxiety and depression. Specifically, meditate and exercise regularly. Maintain a regular sleep schedule. I find joy in being a father and a good husband. I am a master gardener now and love the outdoors. If you can, find people close to you that understand what you are going through. Find peace in a higher power (i.e. nature, the universe, the sun, god, etc.). It will bring peace letting go of your internal suffering even though I know it is incredibly difficult at times. I was plagued for over 3 long years with PAWS. I experienced horrible episodes of panic, near-fainting spells, depression, fatigue, anxiety, dizziness, and anything else you can think of. It was all because of the cannabis and wax I smoked. I KNOW THIS FOR SURE. I altered my brain so much and from such an early age that it took a long time to normalize. And, to be honest, I still have episodes of depersonalization, anxiety, panic, and depression. They are no where close to the suffering I experienced in the first 3 years of withdrawal, but I know them as PAWS as the symptoms are repeatable and unmistakable.

I am a success story. I was essentially incapacitated for the first 2 years of withdrawal. I most likely could have turned to pharmaceutical ssri's or anxiety meds for the rest of my life or turned to using other recreational drugs, but I chose not to. It was very hard some days. But, I saw it through. I don't know if I am to the end of my journey with PAWS yet or if I'll ever be, but I know I am in such a better place now and such a totally different person than I was; the person I am meant to exist as.

Be thankful you are young. Your brain is more resilient and will heal more quickly. Stick to a healthy diet and exercise. Meditate, play, be productive, help other people, and sleep well. I've tried all the supplements you can think of and honestly, nothing really made a difference. I am currently only taking a krill oil daily and that is it. I used to be on like 10 different pills a day trying to overcome PAWS. It really just takes time and probably lots of it. Be patient and find peace.

Again, congrats to you and everyone else struggling through the suffrage that long-term cannabis withdraw induces.
